@GeorgeRichards: Looks like Jack Skille is the #FlaPanthers healthy scratch v #Caps tonight as Alex Kovalev back in after sitting past two

@GeorgeRichards: Looks like Scott Clemmensen in net for the #FlaPanthers tonight v #caps

Surprised, wonder what the lines will be. Guess Danger will be center with Parros and Skille on his wings

The following is bull**** and needs to be fixed soon..

"Top-line veterans"

Weiss: 1 goal in 8 games -9
Versteeg: 1 goal in 7 games -7

Both look like they've been playing shinny for since September..

Totally disappointing.

It also gives us some insurance towards a Weiss departure so we could have another second line center playing first line minutes, lol.

If we are under .500 at the halfway point of the season(24 games), I think you can start fueling the Weiss and "prospect" for O'Reilly and a 2nd or 3rd round pick train. The main question is if O'reilly will still be up for grabs after 24 games.

The Avalanche apparently need help on their D so that "prospect" could be Robak or Petrovic if we're involved in trade discussions with Colorado.

I've defended Weiss for many weeks now but have also said if the value is fair, maybe a big trade can spark something in this team. This team is built for the next 3-5 years and O'Reilly could add to our young core of Centers. The question is whether Goc and Matthias can be the veteran leaders for these young centermen?

Would we be happy with:

Weiss and Robak to Colorado

for

O'Reilly and a 2nd or 3rd round pick, if not a pick then a possible AHL player for depth.

Didn't know where else to post this so I figured I'd drop it here....

Of the bottom 23 players in the NHL for +/-, we have 5 of them on our roster:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats.htm?fetchKey=20132ALLSASAll&viewName=summary&sort=plusMinus&pg=23

Kuba: -8
Fleischmann: -8
Weiss: -7
Campbell: -7
Versteeg: -6

This is an incredibly alarming statistic. This is basically our first line.
It's an alarming statistic, but what does it mean, really? You're talking about the guys who are tops on the team in ice time, and who face the top lines of opposing teams. Is our goaltending up to snuff? Is just one of these guys, particularly a defenseman, not really doing his job well? Are the forwards simply not scoring enough to counter the top scorers of other teams they face (I know they're not)? These numbers are meaningless out of context, and don't indicate every player in the group doing poorly.

Lol.

I do want to see Weiss resigned.

The stats for steeg/Weiss should be seen reflecting the fact about preseason injury recovery + lack of preseason + lack of team training + lack of conditioning. But now, the dust has been dusted off and the rust has been cleaned, we need to go out there and play like we want to win.

It sucks that we had to see Weiss and Steeg play with injuries.. You can tell they are trying to battle through it. It is not easy coming back to the ice and playing 100% from an injury. Flash has been putting up most of the points for the first line.

Now, I don't want to sound uber bias about players stats and the direction of the team as of late. It has been bad and I would like us to stop pouting and win.

But, Ultimately I would like to see Weiss resigned. If not, I think we should defiantly go after ROR. I would not mind giving up kuli for ROR if we are out of center options, but who is good enough to fill kuli's shoes? I feel he has alot of room to grow into a very good dman.

not sure about you guys but this half season kinda killed my hockey buzz. Do not get me wrong I watch every cat game, and I know hitting the playoffs only brings good things for this franchise. I just cant get too excited about this season. I get excited thinking about the next season. :(

How has Kovalev played for you guys? Capable, skilled? Or liability on the ice?

yes, yes, and yes.

For those who had low expectations and knew he would be a part time pp/SO specialist hes fine.

For those who were expecting the ranger or habs version, theyre dissapointed.

The problem is that even as a PP/SO specialist he's a problem on the ice during 5-on-5 since he never plays defense or shows any heart whatsoever. I was really hoping he would at least play with some passion after being scratched for 2 games but it was back to the same level of heart as always. He's not a positive veteran influence for the kiddie corps to be be around so I think almost everyone is ready to see him gone.

Sorry I cannot speak for him...everyone should keep in mind that he lets Tallon do what he feels is best (within what I'm sure Viner gives him for a budget).

I know he does and am thankful, such a relief from Cohen, just wasnt sure if you were dropping a hint or not. Lol

Let's say that we continue being bottom-dwellers in the league. Do you guys think this would cause Mules to think about not re-signing with us?

At this point I would even consider scratching Weiss. The guy has been just terrible.

I can't believe how angry I was a month ago when Jovo got captain. Now I kind of see why...

Weiss must be playing through another injury. He's never this bad and in a contract year too.
