The soul of this city has totally disappeared in the last 15 years.

It's unfortunate.

Once the Big Dig was finished this city just changed dramatically.

The catalyst was the sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers to Frank McCourt who as part of the deal gave Rupert Murdoch his parking lots. Murdoch immediately flipped the land and presto the Seaport District just happened.

I had a friend last summer see Causeway St for the first time since 1972 and he was in total shock.

Chicago has changed in the past 40 years as well - In the early 80's the West Loop was full of flophouses like the one you see in the Blue Brothers but some 30 years ago Ophra built her studio there and the area exploded and skid row vanished almost overnight.

Harpo Studios demolished to make room for new McDonald's headquarters

I have seen changes in Philadelphia, Seattle and of course San Franciso. The later 2 cities have a homeless problem that staggers the mind as unlike Boston people can sleep on the streets and not freeze to death in winter.

The Cambridge I grew up is gone and I only stay now as it is convenient to work but I am ready to bail.

Her minister boss is from Barbados, and I've been several times with the Navy, on the way to Ascension Island, so we've talked about going there and visiting his mom's bread shop. I have technically been to Grand Cayman, but only to stop for fuel after finding and surveilling a suspected drug boat for hours. So, I've seen the island from above, the ramp at night, and they were nice enough to escort us into the terminal so we could use the bathroom. Seeing more than that might be nice!
They both seemed safe. We liked them.

I tried to park my car in San Francisco downtown on Saturday, back in October....mission impossible. And it was SF Fleet week but anyway, i circled the area two times, it took me no less than 3 hours and i just gave up, everything was packed. So i decided to drive out and up to Golden Gate Overlook point, with a bit of luck i found a parking space. Turned out it was probably the best spot to watch the jets fly over the bridge, Blue Angels, i was pretty lucky after all.

Love 'em too, great show and it lasted something like 45 mins.
Those pilots have to stay in great shape to do that kind of flying for that long. And that crazy breath technique to keep the blood flow going to their brain. All while trying not to ram their plane into the one a few inches away from them.

Now I know some of you are at least my age or older so this may bring back some memories....

Super 8 film development of one of our home movies from Christmas 1973, along with the camera it was taken with and the projector we watched it on.

I particularly like the wood grain finish on the camera.

I have a whole bag full of these films. My mom has the VHS tape I had made from them years ago.

Back in the day, my father replaced every window in our garage doors and had the doors painted. I have two brothers in addition to me, and when we saw the new windows and un-scuffed paint, all three sets of eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. We dumped a bucket of pucks in the driveway and then went to town. The friggin' windows didn't last an afternoon. Dad was pissed, but he learned his lesson. The next day he bought a sheet of plywood and boarded the windows up.
