The evolution of the music industry due to technology is very interesting. I can't say I'm an expert by any means, but now that streaming is the de facto go-to format, it seems like albums are again being deprioritized and singles are going to carry most of the weight again. It would have to take a really strong, deep, and intertwined album to hold listener interest when they can just click on through to the next hit song.

I grew up in a weird little window where vinyl was out of style - we didn't have any records or record players at home, but CD players were still too bougie and expensive, so cassettes (and radio) were my first music format, really up until I was about 14. And they were the worst. If you liked track 1 and 3 of an album but didn't care for track 2, you have to stop and fast forward until you got there and pray that the tape didn't get all unfurled while you did it - which only the end of a pencil could save.

I eventually inherited a bunch of old vinyl records (including some McCartney ones, actually) and found a second-hand record player and played around with them. The sonic quality is unmatched, but the novelty of it wore off after a short bit. Spotify or youtube are just more convenient.

My teenage years were CDs and DVDs, now both are pretty much defunct formats. Spotify and Netflix/Hulu changed everything.
I grew up at the end if the vinyl era and miss it. The package, the jacket covers.

Still have my original copy of The Police Synchronicity. Held up to the light it is see through purple

Saw this on the news at work and thought nothing of it. Got home there were like idk 5-7 of them around my door/porch light. Had to duck and roll just to get inside. Yesterday my families house was covered in giant ones.

I can't believe it has been 26 years

Terrible tragedy :(

My dad picked me up from working at Stop & Shop, and as soon as I walked in the door my youngest brother who might have been 10 at the time ran up to me and said “Reggie Lewis collapsed and died.”

Bias and Lewis would have torn the NBA a new one.

What could have been...

One thing that I have taken away from what happened is - YOU CAN'T LIE TO YOUR DOCTOR.

Many of us might doctor shop especially if we are told something we don't want to hear but sometimes you have to accept the truth.

I have a condition in my left eye that is genetic and when a well-respected specialist at Mass Eye and Ear says 'you are an interesting case' I needed to face it. I see him again late in August and I'll go from there.

Remember Reggie Special: Could his death have been prevented?
Tommy Heinsohn, Glenn Ordway, and Jackie MacMullan discuss whether Reggie Lewis' death could have prevented.

Ain’t that the truth. I learned that at a far younger age than anyone should.

Good luck with your eye, Fenway.

Those of us who live in or around Boston are blessed with some of the best medical care in the world.

Back in '94 I was assaulted. A 3/4" piece of glass entered my eye. After surgery to save the eye, I needed serious specialty surgery to save the vision. Since I lived in PA then, the doctor suggested Johns Hopkins as one of the only places that could do it. I wanted to come home, so I asked "What about Mass Eye and Ear?"

He replied "Oh, so you want the best."

You are in good hands.

There are now global online communities focused on health issues, literally hundreds of thousands,if not millions of people sharing experiences and treatments of health issues. There is a TV show based on this that will be premiering soon. I no longer take as Gospel what any doctor says.

no offense but this kind of thinking is how we get large numbers of people not vaccinating their children

If I could pull one of these dudes aside and speak with them about their work ethic or how they arent carrying their weight I would. However we have this "bullying" and "threatening" policy and its very very like idk if this is the word but lenient. Meaning anything I say or whatever I say can be taken wrong. With these 2 sensitive lazy dudes Im trying to not get in trouble.

LOTS of drama between the 2 groups too. The vets I know and the Lazy guys. All have been here 10 plus years.

Like u said only 1 person can disrupt the flow which is why one co worker told me before he left that its not worth it to work as fast as I can because even if I do 4-6 orders on a truck 12-10 more have to be done and its not worth hurting yourself over.

IDK I wrote this when I just got off work and was ranting
I fired the owners daughter from one gig I had in Halifax, anything can be accomplished if you follow the proper protocol

After four years of sobriety, my mom went off the deep end.

Saw the warning signs and attempted to help her get some help on Friday.

She flipped at work and stormed out. Attempted to check herself in at the ER and instead picked up a stranger and brought him to AA. Later on, I asked her to trust me and drove her back to the ER. After triage and a 3 and a half hour wait at the ER, she told me to go f*** myself.

sorry to hear that friend, all too familiar with addiction/recovery and unfortunately, part of that is relapse. I`m one of the very lucky one`s who once I got sober and clean, I have remained so but it`s so much more than simply not drinking/drugging and if I don`t look after the other areas of my recovery then old thoughts/behaviors creep in then possibly actions if I allow for it to get too much.

I spent almost 8 months in a recovery house at the beginning of my recovery and the phrase that was on the white board from day 1 until I left was

"recovery is about handling feelings and emotions without the need to self medicate".....too true, feel free to PM to rant or simply shoot the breeze

That’s such a tough situation. Best wishes for your mom, you and your family

Ehhhhh I may just be misreading the tone of this, but this statement is giving me a troubled reaction.

I can see it if you mean that there are other specialists in the particular area who may see something the GP doesn't, so you can go back to him like "could it be caused by XYZ?", But this kind of reads like one of those internet boards for alternative medicine who think that doctors are all lying to you and that if you just rub some lavender oil on the bottom of your foot your cancer will be cured.

Doctors are still preaching what they learned in college up to 50 years ago,are hamstrung by pharmaceutical lobbies and AMA BS guidelines. Meanwhile medical information doubles every 4 months. But keep taking those statins.

Not at all,but there are people like me who kept all his bloodwork within AMA guidelines and nearly died because of it. Why? They test for the wrong effin thing. Noone ever told me I was Lp(a) positive which makes my LDL extremely malicious. Noone ever told me that wheat provokes Lp(a) to be even more malicious. They told me to give up fats and so my wheat intake increased and within a year I was 48 hours from disaster. I am part of communities where MANY people are curing themselves of everything from depression to Crohn's to DDD after years of suffering the AMA way, through drugs. Get informed.

Yeah well the doctors just took me from paralyzed and made me not paralyzed so I think I’m going to keep doing what they tell me and trust in them. Something tells me I’m better off with them than antiVaxChemTrails42069 on the Internet. Good luck with the anonymous users though!

The internet is a good place to supplement your knowledge. It’s- generally speaking- a terrible place to diagnose and treat yourself

“It is kind of like a Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee, with alcohol,” Tony Olmstead, a general manager for the Maine liquor store chain Roopers Beverage and Redemption, told the paper. “It has done extremely well for us.”

Imagine being so smug and arrogant you just assume doctors and hospitals don't stay up to date with new medical information and techniques, but ****ing randos online do.
Imagine disagreeing with people but never replying to them directly.

The medical field in this country is the best. They do make assumptions and mistakes though.
