More of a cap dump in Goodrow that Montreal does to get Kakko

Monahan
Evans
Armia
Kovacevic
For
Kakko
Jones
Goodrow
Pitlick
sorry, this is very bad for montreal. lol. you basically went on hockey DB and traded habs your 4 worst players - aside from the one who was waived.

pitlick and goodrow are terrible; Evans and Armia are far more serviceable. Goodrow's contract is atrocious. Kakko looks like a bust. Jones looks ok but habs don't need any more small dmen - with hutson and harris already around.
imo, monahan and kovacevic are the two best pieces in this entire deal. by a mile

Kakko's value is such that the Rangers are better off keeping him as a 3rd liner that can play a solid defensive game with the ability (this year aside) to be a 15g 35+pt player.

His salary is not going to balloon so he's going to be a reliable bottom 6 player.

I can see the benefit of moving the salary, but for what he is, he's still a reliable defensive player.

Unless the deal is silly, keep him

How about Monahan for a 2nd and a prospect (not named Othmann or Perrault)?

And we’ll toss in an extra late pick for 50% retention.

Holy, that's massive enough. Doubt Hughes interested in Kakko. He's going to be looking for offense going forward. No from Habs
remember this, Hughes has a mafioso breathing down his neck during every meeting in Gorton. Don't be surprised if he targets certain NYR players if MTL is dealing with them. The downside for Drury and the Rangers is that MTL would 100% be asking about Kakko in any negotiation looking to sneakily get him in a trade. I can see it now, MTL fans love trash talking Laf/Kakko yet are drooling at the thought of getting them for cheap. OP is out of his mind however...

Lafreniere I can see Montreal interested. But they don't have much interest in Kakko. He's third liner and we overrun with them now.
