I lived in Leipzig for 2.5 years. My wife’s German. I can’t switch my brain between German and English like I used to but if we go back for a visit within about a day I start thinking in German again.

My wife loves NZ too, part of why we shipped out of Germany back in 2009.

I had to do the same thing recently in my tortilla soup, substituting hot Italian for Andouille or a similar smoked sausage. It turned out great actually.
