Was wondering if this a good proposal. Both have the same salary. Jets need a 2nd line center, Oilers need a Winger to play with McDavid. Who adds. And what improvements can be made for the deal.

Pretty side ways deal in that sense since RNH put up good numbers on McDavid’s wing. The value is there, I keep RNH as center depth isn’t great as is since Draisaitl is mainly a winger right now.

why

nuge is as productive as ehlers
better defensively
can play any situation
can play wing or center
There is a benefit for the Oilers since Ehlers is younger and signed long term.

I would still pick RNH though

Not anywhere near fair for the Jets.

Ehlers can drive his own offense, which we sorely need. He is not for sale for a non-McDavid piece.

Value seems fine.

But we'll keep Nuge. Fan fav, plays center or wing, good 2way player, plays all situations, versatile. Since Drai plays mainly 1rw (and is better there) Nuge is extremely important to the 2nd line. Especially since he seems to be able to carry AHL wingers better than Leon does.

Ehlers has 27 points to Nuge’s 52. Even factoring in Ehlers games missed, we’re talking a 55 point pace vs a 78 point pace. This makes us worse in every way. Offensively, defensively, positionally, etc. You’re right it’s not fair for the Jets. They come out WAY ahead

Pass from the Jets, no interest in losing Ehlers to get Nuge.

Well said. Nuge is asked to produce with Lucic/Kassian/Khaira types. Ehlers is having a pretty mediocre season with far superior linemates.

No interest whatsoever in moving RNH for a non-Laine piece.

‘No interest in moving Ehlers for a non McDavid piece,’ boys? Lol. Ehlers doesn’t even get you the hair clippings from the barber floor when McDavid abandoned the Frank Gallagher look. What an absurd statement.

Why do I feel like a certain 97 has something to do with Nuge's point totals? As for Ehlers... well, it's a different story.

The downgrade would be absurd for the Jets.

Spend five more seconds reading my post, and you'll notice that nowhere in there was any kind of reference or allusion to the two players being close in value or ability. Sad.

Lol "Ehlers drives the play"

Really good play driver playing 60% with the Scheifele - Wheeler superduo and with 27 points in 40 games. (55 point pace)

:laugh::laugh:

Nuge gives us results. 78 point pace and the far superior 2 way player that plays both center and wing. Easy no to this downgrade. Playing with AHL wingers ev and with McDavid only on the pp he's near ppg. We're not giving that up.

The longer we move into the McDavid era, the less logical moving RNH becomes. Nik Ehlers is a solid winger and will be a valuable player on the team he's on, but RNH is a player the Oilers can run in any situation. He's a quality center, winger, PKer and PP option. And he's a guy you can throw out there when McDavid or Draisaitl are not on the ice. That is going to be incredibly valuable in the coming years when their depth improves through organizational development.

A trade like this robs us of that player to add scoring depth on the wing. Something that will eventually be addressed internally considering it has been a key area of focus since Keith Gretzky was added to the staff.

6.5 years for Ehlers vs 2.5 years of Nuge.....not even debate worthy. Nuge is a good player but It’s not even a serious conversation.....Chevy wouldn’t even consider it.

RNH gets 3:30 of PP TOI per game, Ehlers just 1:30. Ehlers would absolutely be lighting it up if he got that PP time and played with McDavid. Classic case of point watching. Also, Ehlers hit 60 and 64 points last 2 years when RNH never hit those marks despite getting a lot more ice time.

Ehlers is also a speed burner and Maurice does put him out there in End of Game situations especially if there's an empty net where he can seal the game.

WPG is the team that should be asking why....

Oh, I read it. It’s an absurd point of view. RNH is the better and more productive player. Ehlers doesn’t have anywhere near enough value to be mentioned in the same breath as McDavid.

You saying that is like us saying Larsson doesn’t move for anything less than Scheifele .

Such as?

Nuge is not capable of carrying offense himself, and that is arguably one of our most dire issues; we have three top 6 forwards who need someone to create chances for them. Trading Ehlers makes everything worse.

Nugg can Drive any offense now, he has developed enough.
It would be a big boost to the second line and would Definitely thrive with Laine.

I don't really see Little as the #2c, IMO Nugg is a big upgrade

Why does it not show in his isolated impact?
