Friedman: NJ still interested in trading their pick (2nd OA) They are creating a list of players whom they would move it for.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that NJ is not really interested in trading their pick and that this rumor was purposely thrown out there by Fitz (Keep in mind, I'm just speculating here) to gauge what interest teams would have in the #2 pick.

I mean...I imagine it would take something that knocks Fitz's socks off (or whatever that expression is) for him to even consider giving up the #2 pick at this point.

(and if this was already discussed, I don't care. Here's my unwanted 2 cents)

agree NJ will draft Slaf or Nemec and be very happy for the next few years

Out of curiosity what would it take for the Sabres to move up to 2 from 9 without giving up Dahlin or Power?

I honestly do not think the Devils are looking to trade the pick, so it would take an overpayment and I really do not feel like getting into the HFB insult the other teams players routine. Devils analytics group has say and analytics types usually think there is a big difference in value between 2 and 9.

you think so? maybe its just me but i think Nemec turns out to be the best player of the draft kid has huge potentiel but i know Slaf would fit really well next to Hughes also

I'd have no problem if they took Nemec. I think the floor is really solid and I while I get why people may think Jiricek has the higher ceiling, it's not like I think its impossible for Nemec to be a top pair guy.

Random thought here, but I wonder if the Jets scramble for the 2nd overall pick to nab Wright or Cooley. They're trying to trade Wheeler, Schiefele is a wild card, and PLD told them he's testing FA next summer. I could see them starting to target their center of the future.

I feel like Nikolaj Ehlers or Kyle Connor would look incredible on Hughes' wing.

Only Slaf.

JUST Slaf.

Drafting Nemec at #2 would make me question Fitz's abilities as GM. 😡
Disagree with the notion of Fitz.

Nemec will be the best D in this draft IMO, but in terms of building a team to start winning, he doesn’t fit that timeline. Will be a year or two away.

But agree that he needs to draft Slaf. He can play right away and will fit well with Hischier or Hughes.

I personally want them to hang on to the pick and take Slaf or Wright whoever is there @ 2. However, for the sake of this exercise --> would #2 and Zacha FOR Jack Quinn, UPL and #9.

Then maybe the Devils select Kemell or Savoie @ # 9.

I say Devils can keep their pick. Draft is weaker than usual at top.

Agreed.

This is definately not the draft to pay a huge price to move up into the top 3. There is really no must-have prospect at the top of this draft that is worth the price. Kinda feels like 2017 when the best players, Makar and Pettersson went 4 and 5.

Doubt we do both, if we nab a big name forward it will just be one
Meh . I can see one big name and maybe a trade like getting (hopefully ) Puljujarvi off of Edmonton or signing a Marchment or Neiderrieder.

This is what should happen at this point. Imagine a line of Gaudreau-Hughes-Slaf and then Bratt-Hischier-Holtz? Not saying Gaudreau is def a Devil, but this would be crazy.
Pretty impressive but where does Mercer and Sharangovich go ?

I’d rather have a proven established winger instead of Holtz or Mercer in that spot . Move Holtz and or Sharangovich for a goalie / RHD .

Yup, why Devils are dangling it. Looks like a 2012 draft.

I like it... maybe it works but im not sure if 3 lefties on one line is a recipe for success

Looks deadly , but in a perfect world , I’d like more “hard skill” on the second line. That lineup , even though skilled as hell , is pretty soft looking and would be easy to play against. Third line should be loaded up with players like Neiderrieder Marchment and Zetterlund . I dont know, it just seemed like we had no snarl at all last season . As in none. Zero.
