Keepers are assigned and finalized.
Draft order is set. Everything should be right and the trades should be reflected. When you sign in, it will look like it's backwards, but that's because we have 5 keepers and our first round starts in round 6.

Reminder: Draft is this coming Friday at 9:15pm EST. Looking forward to the season!

Hey guys - Bruins fan coming here in peace. I'm trying to fill out the last spot in another Yahoo Fantasy Hockey League. It's called the Diamond Level League and it's for Managers with a Yahoo rating of at least 900 ( or close to it ) and one of your guys ( HBK27 ) who is part of my league said that I might have some luck posting here. My league is just a regular head-to-head league ( not a keeper league ) but it is a very competitive league. Here is all the important information:

- draft is Sunday October 8th at 6 pm Eastern
- it's a free Head-to-Head league with 30 man rosters ( including 6 IR+ spots per team )
- Daily Roster: 3 Centers, 3 LW, 3 RW, 5 Defensemen, 2 Goalies and 2 Utility spots
- Player scoring categories ( 8 ): Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, PP points, SH points, Shots on Goal, Faceoff wins and Hits
- Goalie scoring categories ( 4 ): Wins, Goals Against Ave., Save Pct. and Shutouts
- 8 team league with 6 teams making the Playoffs

There's just 1 spot open so this will be done on a " first come first served " basis. If interested please send me a PM with an e-mail address that you use regularly.

.....and the spot has been filled. :thumbu:

You know, there are alot of obstacles to a threepeat. I didn't see this one coming.

I will likely be autopicking tomorrow night, as it is Cheerleader/Dad night under the Friday night lights.

I will be dancing a routine at halftime with my cheerleader daughter to the song 'Footloose', instead of drafting fantasy hockey players.

I know you all arranged this somehow, and if any video leaks, I'm coming after y'all.

Ahh, man. I never like having a draft when the defending champ can't make it. I'd rather not make a last-minute change, but I could probably push it to 9:30 if those extra 15 mins gives you any more time. How late are those high school games where you are?? A 9:00 halftime feels so late, haha.

By 9:30 on a Friday night I am usually a little tipsy.

Sigh....good game @billingtons ghost . I really thought I had you this year. Only 8 times in 24 weeks did someone in my games score 2+ SHPs and of course it happens in week 25. Adrian Kempe absolutely murdered me. But, it's only fitting that my season was ended by Jack Hughes blocking 3 shots and Jake Allen getting a win.

Your dynasty is so frustrating, haha. Having Mac and McDavid as cornerstones is crazy. Best of luck in the championship; but, I'm rooting for @Peter Sidorkiewicz to stop the 3-peat. Time for me to start my 6 months of agonizing over keepers.

Thanks brother. I thought you had me too. It was as tight as it gets.

I'm definitely aware that picking Mac, then dropping him and picking him off waivers the next year... And drafting McDavid and Jack Hughes tenth or twelfth was pretty lucky. I also picked Drai off waivers at some point before saying 'nah' too many Oilers.

Looking forward to taking on the Dorker. @PeterSidorkiewicz One of my favorite goalies and I think we've ended each other's seasons more than a few times.

Congrats @billingtons ghost for winning the league. Done me on regular season head to head record. That is the closest final i've ever been involved with playing 10+ years of fantasy hockey.

So small margins in many catergories:
2 goals
3 +/-
6 pim
1 shp
2 sog
1 blk

Crazy close. Seems like we were tied last 3-4 days and we still couldn't break the tie on the final day.

Thanks @Peter Sidorkiewicz. It was 7-7 forever but during last night's late games it was 7-6 6-7 8-5 5-8...

Yeah once you flipped +/- to go up 7-6 I figured it was over. Not until Killorn was on the ice for a couple of Anaheim goals and Mcnabb/Karlsson were on for a -2 did I get that cat back. Unreal.

At one point I thought the whole thing might hinge on Calvin Pickard coming in in relief to raise SV%.

Best final and semifinal I've been involved with.

It's tough to threepeat.

Now a hard question: should we make a move to improve competition?

I'd offer that the top (two? Three? Four?) teams only get three keepers and that the bottom two teams are to ad two of them pre-draft.

I don't know how much craziness that entails or how impossible that is to make happen but I'm thinking something like that would help.

Again idk how to increase trades. This might be the first year no one made any.

I think what we can do is make trading available during off-season.

How it can work is we each state which players are available for trade in this thread. Basically the players that won't be part of the 5 keepers.

If I say Jesper Bratt is available for trade from my team, it will allow another team to trade for him and add him as one of their 5 keepers pre draft. Using HF Boards PM, we can negotiate privately on this site what it will cost. E.g. a exchange of a 1st round pick for Bratt and a 3rd round pick.

Then once the trade has been agreed privately, the deal is posted in this thread by one of the GM, and then quoted by the other GM to confirm the deal.

@Pops Freshenmeyer as League Commissioner has the ability to edit keepers and draft order for next season to reflect an agreed off-season trade.

I've never done a fantasy league where picks have been traded. How does that work? Do we HAVE to keep 5 players? What's the draft order?

If you say Jesper Bratt is available you demand Connor McDavid in return. Then the other participant offers a third and a B+ prospect. Then you say you laugh and hang up. Then the other participant says you should send your best player to him because Bratt is a cap dump. Then you tell him that he lives in a cesspool and no player wants to be on his team. Then he tells you that you have no fans and your team ownership has no clue and you will stink for the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't want to mess around with the number of keeper players. I think it's a perfect number.

I've literally been playing in fantasy sports league for a long time, the basic reason people don't make many trades is most people don't offer fair or helpful trades to other players. They are always looking to rip people off.

I think what I was proposing wasn't to mess with the current formulas of the league at all - I think 5 keepers is fine.

What I was suggesting was some form of wealth distribution to make the league more competitive, and what @PeterSidorkiewicz countered with was a way of perhaps making the league more competitive by allowing offseason trades.

I'll try to explain:
I just threepeated, at least partially on the backs of McDavid and MacKinninon. My other keepers outside of Jack Hughes are Marchand and Kane.

In a fit of socialism and altruism and insanity - I suggested that the winner of the league maybe gets handicapped by only getting three keepers. Such that next year Marchand and Kane enter the draft along with the rest of my team.
If I wanted to go for full self-immolation, I could suggest that the winner puts his best player or two best players back into the draft - so I don't mark McDavid and/or MacKinnon as keepers.

Just so that some of the teams that have been clogging the basement for a few years could very quickly vault in the standings and we don't have sixth months of zombie owners.
-----
What the Dorker suggested, and I think is a good idea - is that we allow teams to trade players for draft picks. So for example, and I'll use a real world example:
I have Kempe on my team and I don't have enough keeper slots. If some team wanted Kempe, they could offer me a 6th round (effectively 11th round, I think) pick and get Kempe to mark as one of their keepers instead of hoping to get him in the draft.

I get a late round pick, and the other guy has one less draft pick and has to go to the waiver wire for his last slot.

I think this is kinda cool, because there are lots of guys you end the season with that might be really valuable as keepers to someone else. It might help a bottom dweller get someone whom they wouldn't have gotten in the 11th round for sure.

I really like trades and I've made one every year and it's always helped (and hurt me). Fair trades that help both teams can be made - it's just everyone's afraid of being taken.
