Let's see, Hoglander is a fixture in the top six. He hasn't been scratched once or seen his ice time reduced 35 games into the season. He's force in the offensive zone and wins puck battles in the defensive zone. And the best part, he's barely 20 years old.

Looking back through Canuck history, other than Pettersson, Hughes and maybe Bure, it's to think of another player who's made a greater impact at that young age.

Special things are ahead for this player.

Trevor Linden? Ohlund had a pretty impactful rookie season too but he was a bit older. Same with Boeser.

Outside of Hughes who had a hot start and is now cooling off has any of the other 2019 drafted players been better than Hoglander?
JH has a higher points per game, but as you said, he has slowed quite a bit, Höglander is hands down the best '19 draftee to be playing right now.

I think his deployment is okay. Other teams deal with the same issue of not awarding enough time to their rookies. its a common NHL coach thing to make the rookies work extra hard for their ice time.... not that its right, but we are definitely not the only fanbase complaining of not playing our star rookies enough.

Linden definitely, Ohlund was an older rookie, and came in with the same amount of hype as EP.

To be fair, Ohlund was only a year older and he was a Dman. Ya there was definitely a lot of hype with Ohlund. One of the few draft picks in history that the Canucks absolutely got right.

His season is more in line with what you can typically expect to see from a solid campaign. We've been spoiled in recent years.

Ten years ago we'd be doing cartwheels over Hoggy.
This. A solid rookie campaign that looks worse only because it follows three anomaly years in a row. It’s a very weak Calder year too, so he could even make a run for a nom

Here we were hoping Hog gets moved to PP1. Instead he’s taken off the PP all together?

Travis Green / Newell Brown everybody

In terms of consistency, Hoglander has been their best forward...never takes a night off....and he's proven that he can get a stick on pucks shot from the point, which makes him doubly dangerous. Tipped shots make it almost impossible for the goalie to control rebounds.

Yet despite this, he gets zero time on the pp.....and that's basically cost him any chance for Calder consideration.

That's...disappointing. Hoglander's shot, creativity, and puck retrieval skills are what we need on PP1 right now. Such a weird team. Tired of trying to figure it out. Its just one of those teams that doesn't like to "gift" spots to youngsters even if they are the best for the job.

Removing Hoglander from the PP all together doesn’t make sense, surely there is another shoe to drop

I think if the team was doing well, he could have very well challenged for the Calder (I'm not saying he'd win, but maybe get strong consideration). But tough enough for a rookie to break into the league let alone on a team that is ****. Very impressed so far with the kid.

Not having Hogz on the PP while this team is missing several forwards due to injury is like... well I don't know what it is like, but all I know is that it's achingly stupid

7 points in his last 8 games?

How have he handled the physical game in NHL? He is pretty small after all.

He's got really good balance so it's hard to take the puck off him. He actually wins a majority of his battle on the board.
