Recalled/Assigned: Nicklas Jensen

Any chance Jensen getting the call was cap related? Like something similar to how they called up Yann Sauve a couple times after he was done as a prospect with no intention of playing him? They probably needed some insurance and didn't want to take away from the Comets roster too much for a guy to sit in the press box. Jensen is a good fit in that regard.

Maybe it's simply wanting to sit with Nick, while watching a game and pointing out how he needs to play in straight lines to get to play with the big club. "Watch this guy. Notice the straight lines, taking hits, and stopping on pucks? That's what we want you to do." Some times watching film is not enough.

You wouldn't need to go through the formalities of recalling a player and adding him to the roster if you just wanted to talk with him.

My guess is they were like "Nick, Nick, you gotta see this arena before it's too late. Your generation will never know what it's like!"

So you call up a guy who has been laying goose eggs for a couple months on the basis of merit? Talking him through an NHL game, pointing out the good things, the bad things, asking him what he'd do in a given situation, asking him about where he'd shoot on a particular goalie etc are all important convos that could help a player develop. He also gets to take part in a practice and such as part of the recall.

If we were doing the recall just as an injury insurance, then they made the wrong choice of call-ups by a long shot.

Maybe it was a threat. If you aren't playing on the ice with us by next year we are sending you to Edmonton :sarcasm:
