Tricky situation. I'd like to see Engvall stay. The ensuing lack of spares, his cap hit relative to the fourth liners/bubble options, and not requiring waivers all make that tough though.

If he gets sent down it won't be for long, other moves will be made

Based on Cap Friendly's numbers and my calculations we can't afford to keep Engvall and an extra. Which means a 20 man roster if you keep Engvall. Which means 4 of Marincin, Shore, Petan, Timashov, Gauthier, Spezza are waived/demoted and a 5th one Moore is healthy. Or Engvall is demoted, or another long term injury, or a trade.

Spezza on the 4th line would be a disaster. Especially in the playoffs. His speed won’t keep up with the opposition 4th line robust players.

Spezza should only be a top 9 injury replacement player where his style of play can be more suited.
