And yes, a link would be nice - to see details about where these come from, how they were determined, any peculiarities that need to be known, et cetera.

Not the worst list. I'd have gone with the 2013 Blackhawks over the 2010 variant, but star-power seems to be the deciding factor.

Twenty greatest of all time yes nothing before the 70s?

Habs have 25 Stanley Cups yet only 3 of their teams are on the list and they had some amazing teams.

Ya not a terrible list but not the best either and as mentioned that 70 Bruins are not better than the 77 Habs.

Not one of Beliveau / Richard's Canadiens teams? Not one of Howe's Wings? The Leafs won 3x/row twice, neither gets a sniff?

Ah. It's a voting thing. So naturally there's a strong "modern era" bias.

Ohhh now looking at the site this seems to be a fan vote thing so of course it will be younger people which is why no team before the 1970s Bruins appears, etc.

Having no teams on this list from before 1970 basically renders the entire exercise laughably pointless.

Seems it's fan-voted and fans just voted for recent versions of winning teams. Lame.

08 Detroit was better than any recent version of Pittsburgh or Chicago, or any team since 08 for the matter.

Seriously, look up their dominance. You won't find a better team statistically and especially from a possession standpoint. They outshot opponents by an average of 11 shots per game in the regular season and by 13 shots per game come the postseason. Let that sink in for a second. They had peak Datsyuk and Zetterberg (both 90+ point Selke Finalists) while also having prime Lidstrom.

Maybe statistically but I thought we were just as good in 2009 with the addition of Hossa and got rid of some of the old guys. However our goaltending was not nearly as good.

The 08 team was better in pretty much every aspect outside of looking at the lineup on paper. 08 was like a well oiled machine offensively and defensively and 09 was basically a "we're going to win on talent."

Hossa didn't necessarily gel well with Datsyuk or Zetterberg and Babcock basically refused to play them together like in 2008 except for when Datsyuk returned from injury in Game 5 of the Finals and couldn't even play center (thus he played on Z's wing.)

And like you mentioned, 2008's goaltending was much better in the regular season (although once the playoffs hit Osgood stepped back up.)

09 Detroit still wins a Cup with better health, but at their best the 08 team was more impressive statically and visually.

They were the best possession team, certainly.

I'd put the 2013 Blackhawks right up along side them overall though.

Not as good of a possession team (54.14% to 58.77%), but better 5v5 Goal Diff (64.14 GF% to 58.63%), better All Situations goal-differential (60.57 GF% to 58.47 GF%). Same overall GF/G and better overall GA/G situations, better in both 5v5 GF/G and 5v5 GA/G.

Now all that comes with the obvious caveat that 2013 was a shortened season.
