The cost of testing alone should eat away significantly at most of the revenue they generate with these playoffs. It almost seems not worth it from a financial perspective if they make it to Phase 4 which is 50/50 IMO.

I read somewhere or heard in a pod that testing was expected to cost about $3M. The tournament is expected to save between $400-500 million in television revenue. Also the Canadian dollar savings on all costs in Phase 4 should be significant.
Good point about the Canadian dollar, that was certainly another incentive to playing an All Canada tournament.
$3M seems really low considering all the extra staff that's going to be tested on the protocol list but good for them if they can get this accomplished with a strong flow of revenue.

Either way, even if they don't finish the season finalizing a CBA extension is huge for the long term health of the league. Say what you want about the NHL but they've done well through this whole process.
