According to the network’s hockey insider Bob McKenzie, when the NHL announces its new Canadian television contracts on Tuesday, TSN won’t be part of the picture. The league instead has signed on with CBC and Rogers-owned Sportsnet in a landmark 12-year agreement that freezes the country’s largest sports specialty network out as an NHL rightsholder for more than a decade.

Rds is owned by tsn which is owned by bell. Bell lost the bid to rogers which owns sportsmet.

They are loosing the national rights. Still, they can have the exclusive rights from certain NHL teams. Per exemple, they have exclusive rights for the Jets (till 2021). And RDS have Habs rights (till 2014).

TVA Sports will now possess the rights for Draft/Trade/Other teams/Playoffs.

Still its not an effective change that take place now, Tsn/Rds will finish the season.

This could be a good thing as long as sportsnet gets much better production quality and announcers.

They have more regional channels, so barring blackouts, you might be able to watch several games on the same night.

TVA Sports can show 22 games at least. But it is sure, that they will show them all. They are not crazy.
