Nice buying in to the hysteria. This "disease" has killed less people than the common flu this year. The mortality rate for people under 40 is 0.2 percent. All the people dying are elderly people who would have died from breaking their hips. Over 70 percent of the people who got it in China have already made a full recovery. This is all just mass hysteria generated by the media. At this point in its "lifespan" H1N1 had already killed more people, yet nothing was shut down. This reeks of an outer controlled entity, but that's not to be spoken about on a forum.

Big difference is that N1H1 and SARS had very short incubation period and ppl who contracted it got very ill very fast and therefore lied in the bed and could not transmit it very far.
This thing has 5-6 spread factor (flu has 2-3), so one infected person can spread it far and wide without even feeling anything or having any symptoms.
In severe cases infected ppl need urgent hospitalization and very special treatment (lungs ventilation) and no drug can help at the moment. There is simply no properly equipped beds in hospitals to withstand hundreds and then thousands that show up at hospitals doors all at once.

1919 Spanish influenza virus cancelled the Stanley Cup Finals (killed a HHOFer too).

2020 Wuhan coronovirus cancels end of season and Stanley Cup playoffs.

Every 100 years?

Wow SOOO many possible complications and twists and turns...

Off the top of my head -
- If the season does return in say 2-3 weeks, Muzzin is healthy, along with Reilly, and everyone else is as rusty as they are, nice...
- Freddy gets rest, no excuses for a playoff run, nice...
- Was watching Elliot Friedman he was saying it's even been mentioned to have hockey into August... we might even have johnsson and Mikheyev back?
- Cap implications go completely out the window for the rest of the season....
- How does the playoff format get solved if it's an early season end?? Bubble teams will be PO'd without a fighting chance

If the season ends now -
- A season lost with our core - BUMMER
- potential salary cap stagnating, also sucks for us
- Those teams that "went for it" at the deadline with NOTHING to show for it... what happens to "conditional draft picks" in any deal??? complicated.

Pretty much. I really hope some big names follow Love's lead.
Me too.
Look at the salary in the NBA, Norman Powell, who is pretty much 6-7th men makes over 6mil a year or something like that. 100K from these players is really not much. If every players on every team is willing to donate 100k, each team could raise 1.4mil.

It sucks but this will probably be the end of the season. A complete waste.
I mean.. we're set up much better to win next year anyways lol

cap space, 10 picks in this draft, Sandin/Liljegren expansion draft protected, Robertson possibly pushing for a job, and we can actually accrue cap space for the deadline with Horton/Clarkson off the books and no big RFA's to sign.

We for sure wont get Johnsson back. But soupy would be a bonus!

it will be interesting to see how the NHL does this because if play goes beyond July 1st, obviously a bunch of players will be left without a contract. for us alone, soupy, ceci, Barrie etc would all be without a contract.

That can be easily extended. Players aren't paid in the playoffs anyway.

Good point had not thought of that issue. Although my guess is they push that date back to a week after playoffs end to give the discussion period.
