Rask is a stud

Lehner has had issues

Lehner is my goalie in the SIM - I love him and watch him like a hawk but no way

Rask is a leader on this team as well

The B’s have a bunch of leaders on this team.

You say that Rask is “a stud”, but his regular season save % the last 4 years is lower than a guy who played for a shit team AND was suffering from depression.

He’s now getting treated for those issues and he had a career year last season that was much better than Rask’s. Does Trotz’s system help? I’m sure it does, but the B’s play a system that stresses defensive responsibility as well.

I think the Bruins can win a Cup in the next 2-3 years max and I would love to see them do that. At the same time they have to be cognizant of life after Chara, Bergeron, Rask and Krejci. I don’t want the team to suck after those guys are gone, and I don’t think Sweeney does either (obvious). One way to insure that they don’t is by finding and plugging in players to replace the cornerstone vets. The last time a B’s GM tried to “keep the band together” for too long, it didn’t end well. Pretty sure Sweeney doesn’t make the same mistake.

bruh that was 13 years ago
What free agents did we have a realistic shot at or need for in the last 10 years with the core of Bergeron, Krejci and Chara in place? They were after Tavares but he listened to his PJs. I can’t think of any big names that we really needed since Chara and Savard.

Good points here.

Tomorrow we'll probably see SJ captain Pavelski sign with Dallas. That's the business. Just because players have been in Boston for a long time doesn't mean they should necessarily play here forever.

The Bruins need to be both competitive now and in the future. McAvoy is probably going to be a Top 5 defenseman in the league, same for Pastrnak at his position. At this point I wouldn't sacrifice the future for the present.

^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^EXACTLY! Thank you Joe. I didn't have the energy and courage to put it out there the way that
you just did. Whatever is best for the team is what is best PERIOD!! They (B's Front Office) needs to keep a collective open mind and do the right thing.
IMO all of your reasons are the right ones but also when a team goes through a championship season, whether you win or lose changes need to bemade. If no changes are made, even someone as core as the number ONE goaltender it keeps stagnation from setting in. In 2011 the B's needed a changeover but Chiarelli never really moved out some of the old and didn't bring in fresh blood. Bringing in new talent is healthy for the team in several ways. IMO if the team were to bring back every player from the SC team we would have a season long hangover that may lead to not making the playoffs.

Hopefully Sweeney is going to pinpoint moves that will at first seem iffy but if he does it right it'll inject new vitality into the overall lineup and energy in the room.

I can't begin to explain just how little interest I have in the Bruins spending more money on the bottom of their roster.

Zero. Zilch. Nada. Negative. No! f*** OFF!

Like eating broken glass just to feel it tear me up as it passes through.

Legit scoring winger to play with Krejci. However you need to do it. You get it done.

Absolutely 100% this. That's all this team really needs. But it needs to be a true scoring power forward. Is anything like this available? Anders Lee is the closest thing I can find, but if it is true that Panarin is going to the Island, I expect Lee to stay there and Lou to maybe even offer sheet Marner for the fun of it all!

Lehner , like Rask is also a metalhead as his masks are always painted with his favorite band “ In Flames’” logos . I’ll take on another metal head any time ... quality folk ya know

In Flames kicked unholy ass until they decided to experiment and put out "Reroute to Remain" and "Soundtrack to Your Escape". "Come Clarity" was something approaching a return and then everything just went to shit.
