Why do people lose their minds over overall number? The overall isn't everything

Some reactions to these reveals have been crazy. I think they've been decent, right guys are getting recognition, and at least they're reacting to players having good seasons eg. Josi, Hudler, Tarasenko. Especially Josi's rating came as a surprise, as they seem to have been really slow on giving ratings boosts to defenders in the past.

D.Sedin should have been above Sharp. (Which means Sharp shouldn't be top 10)

Ovi only got a 93, the same as Ryan Suter FFS.

Oh, and they really made him look like a caveman this year:

Something needs to be done about the player ratings this is reaching Madden levels.

You can't compare the 93 rating of a LW to a 93 rating of a D.

Still, we're talking about the Rocket winner, only 50 goal scorer in the game, runner up to the Hart & Lindsay. He's a clear cut above the rest. If you make him a 93, then the other wingers should have their ratings bumped down.

Defensive awareness stat effects overalls the most, Ovechkins stats will be higher then other wingers even if doesn't reflect in his overall which is not the # you should look at in comparing players in this game.

Still, he was a 93 overall after coming off a -35 year. He's improved a lot defensively this year, I thought his improvement would bump him to a 94 or 95. Oh well, he's still OP in the game.

Yes, he deserves a better rating, he is the best sniper in the game. Ive place him at 94 but he is a 93 probably because of his defensive category

Marleau probably should be rated that high, IMO.

He had a pretty poor year and his 88 rating is the same as what Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton had for NHL 15 by the last update.
