The problem with playing goalie is that everyone else on the ice has a lot more control over their players and hockey sticks than you do. You basically have a limited amount of moves/animations to stop an almost unlimited array of scoring situations.

That, and often it feels like you're nearly helpless on goals against. Not only do you have the old backdoor-one-timer which is almost impossible to stop, but sometimes it seems like even mundane shots go in the net because the CPU decided it was time to let one in. I don't even know how many times I've been square to a shot, tracking it fine, and it just zips past my glove into the net.

I guess it's necessary to let shooters win the battle sometimes, due to attribute superiority and what not, but it's just not fun to play a game where you can only marginally influence the outcome. It's totally rage-inducing to be in the middle of a solid game and then watch your goalie wave at two or three long wrist shots. Makes me wonder why I wasted the time playing the first part of the game if the outcome was going to be determined like that.

Like you said, it comes down to not really having full control over the goalie. I'm not even sure if it's something that can be fixed, given the limitations of a video game controller. For now, the whole mode is just very unrewarding of the time and effort it takes to build your skills to the point of keeping your head above water.

Anybody else notice this game lags in Standard def?

I tried playing offline today in SD (My HDMI port on my TV conked out, gotta wait until thursday to get another TV) and i noticed this game lags like crazy (control inputs delayed, line changes lagged, etc), oddly enough i tried playing a drop-in game and noticed not a single issue.

So what's the deal? All of my other games work fine (COD, Yadda yadda yadda)

I just play the hell out of the game when it first comes out and try and get Legend 3 by the beginning of November.

Everyone's equal the first month after release so at least you know you're not gonna get stuck on a drop-in team that's vastly inferior to the other side.

meanwhile in year 3 of GM Connected Galchenyuk is still 66 overall

He'll turn 25 eventually. You just have to hope that he'll turn out at that point. That is, if you ever GET to that point in your GM Connected league.

Yeah, in my opinion Galchenyuk should be around 78 overall or so by year two or three but it always takes like five years in offline GM mode. It sucks.

Yup.. Have the same issue with offline games in SD. Online it works fine. But offline in SD is just horrible.

One of those happened to Joider last night when we were playing club, and the other was when I was playing a shootout.

Garbage like that happens all the time though.

CHLers are back, but some newcomers aren't on AHL rosters.

Like Zemgus Girgensons and Riley Sheahan. Yakupov is still not there, but that was to be expected, considering he isn't playing in any of the leagues in the game.

Justin Schultz is there, thought. Plenty of more or less known prospects too (such as Reilly Smith).
