The rating system was odd last year in that b+/a+ didn't exist, A- would be a 4.5

This is just a guess but what i've seen from other people playing it online it's about right.

The potential system changed so that a player will always keep the same rating (unless they are regressing because of age?). The colour indicates how likely/close a player is to their potential.

Well, last year the potential wouldn't necessarily indicate the overall the player was likely to reach. Rather, it dictated at which pace the prospect would grow in a year. A prospect with A potential wouldn't necessarily become a superstar. Say, if his base overall was 55 and he was drafted a a 20 years old then it would be doubtful whether he'd even be an NHL'er but having the A potential would grant him a fast paced growth, but maybe not enough to put him at 80+ overall.

That seems about right. As Watsatheo said, they are probably a little than that though.

Simmed two seasons, one year each with custom overalls.

Yakupov - 74 OV to 75 OV, 4.5 stars potential, Medium accuracy (Yellow)
Murray - 73 OV to 84 OV, 4.5 stars potential, Medium accuracy (Yellow)
Galchenyuk - 71 OV to 76 OV, 4.5 stars potential, Medium accuracy (Yellow)

Yakupov - 74 OV to 75 OV, 4.5 stars potential, High accuracy (Green)
Murray - 73 OV to 85 OV, 4.5 stars potential, High accuracy (Green)
Galchenyuk - 71 OV to 77 OV, 4.5 stars potential, High accuracy (Green)

So not much of a difference in their overalls, but their trade values were substantially higher. I guess the colour doesn't change how quickly they grow, but increases the chance that they will reach their ceiling.

I can confirm the color; Yakupov went from 75 to 76 OVR after one season, and I put him with Green as well.

Pretty crazy that Murray jumps so much though.

yup, also potential could fluctuate up or down

To anyone who likes to start their Be A GM mode from the draft, and was annoyed to find you couldn't easily add the players back to the 2012 Draft.

Step 1: Move any rookie from their junior team to an AHL team.
Step 2: When prompted select to name the junior player a free agent.
Step 3: Move the player back to their junior team.
Step 4: Start the game with current rosters from the NHL Entry Draft.

and boom goes the dynamite you've got the ability to draft whoever you want. I hate starting with the draft already complete because half the picks aren't included in the game. Figured I'd share this approach with anyone who plays the same way.

So far Brodin and Collberg are missing.
Any players who played in the NCAA last year, (as well as those finished in the AHL) are also not in the game. Pontus Aberg, and any others players who played for a team that got relegated to the Allsvenskan are not in the game either.
Weirdly enough Hampus Lindholm is the game (played in the Allsvenskan last year), but Forsberg is not.

Lindholm's team (Rogle) got promoted to the SEL that's why he's in the game. Leksands is still in Allsvenskan.

This is dumb, a friend owed me money and payed me in MS points (*******) instead, so instead of letting it waste I bought season ticket. Started playing, do a quick GM mode even though it's pointless with the rosters so bad (So many players missing). Brandon Morrow gets 10 goals and 11 assists in 75 games. Benn got 37 goals and 50 assists in 82 games. What happens in the playoffs? Morrow gets 12 goals 19 assists and Benn only gets 5 goals and 5 assists. (All simming)

What the ****.

Quick favour!

Can someone tell me which positions the following players are defaulted to:

McDonald (STL) - LW
Gaborik (NYR) - RW
Nash (NYR) - RW
Brouwer(WAS) - RW

Thanks in advance!

Lindholm's team (Rogle) got promoted to the SEL that's why he's in the game. Leksands is still in Allsvenskan.

Ah, thanks. I probably should have checked the SEL. I had no idea they were promoted.

Yakupov - 74 OV to 75 OV, 4.5 stars potential, Medium accuracy (Yellow)
Murray - 73 OV to 84 OV, 4.5 stars potential, Medium accuracy (Yellow)
Galchenyuk - 71 OV to 76 OV, 4.5 stars potential, Medium accuracy (Yellow)

Yakupov - 74 OV to 75 OV, 4.5 stars potential, High accuracy (Green)
Murray - 73 OV to 85 OV, 4.5 stars potential, High accuracy (Green)
Galchenyuk - 71 OV to 77 OV, 4.5 stars potential, High accuracy (Green)

Did another season, all 3 with 4.5 star potential and Low accuracy (Red)

Yakupov - 74 OV to 77 OV
Murray - 73 OV to 82 OV
Galchenyuk - 71 OV to 79 OV

Colour seems to have little to no impact on the players immediate growth, but does change trade value.
If a player gets playing time in the NHL, they grow quicker than in the juniors.

I can confirm the color; Yakupov went from 75 to 76 OVR after one season, and I put him with Green as well.

Pretty crazy that Murray jumps so much though.

Definitely, when I simmed my first season with all the base ratings, he went from 60 OV to an 80 OV. I wonder what sort of factors increase how much they grow.

Were they all playing in the NHL?

Yak in the OHL, Gally on the Habs 4th line, and Murray on the Jackets bottom pairing

EDIT: They are actually all playing in the CHL.

nvm.

yes i know that. how do you think i made the list? i just put all the forwards in order, something which they didn't do. it gives people an idea of who is better than who

Oh Well, good list, and some lazy people will rather this over the other so it wasn't a waste.
