Hey guys, I am new to the HUT scene.. been playing other game modes really. However, I have a team comprised mostly of mediocre NHL players.. (Hemsky, Grabner, Clarkson, Laich...Antropov, guys in the low 80's at FW) and My D isn't anything special either. Again mostly low 80's guys. I have Howard-Lindback in net.

I pulled a Luongo card yesterday and I am guessing the way to build a team is to sell high value cards instead of buying packs as you gain pucks.. (I only have about 9k in pucks) --

should I opt to sell Luongo instead of playing him? What's a good market value for him? I saw a lot of them starting around 17k? Too little?

Thanks for the help!

Grabner is one of the better players to have.

Crosby named one of the 3 stars of the week by the NHL according to ESPN... does that mean a shot at a 94ovl Sid?!?!

Finally got rid of my terrible Enstrom-Bogosian pairing, they got beat so ****ing often... replaced them with Edler/Pietrangelo.

E. Kane - Getzlaf (C) - Ryan (A)
Neal - M. Richards (A) - Grabner
Carter - Backstrom - Pavelski
McDonald - Berglund - Stewart

Bouwmeester - Burns
Edler - Pietrangelo
Yandle - Subban

SOTW Bishop

I'm pretty happy with this since I've only had the game for 3 weeks. Any suggestions on a 4th line of fast grinders that can PK extremely well? Preferably someone that can win faceoffs too, I really struggle there. Once I finish my 4th line I think I'm going to get Sharp and Nash to replace Neal/Grabner.

Brad Richards, Travis Zajac, Milan Michalek, Joe Pavelski, Jason Pominville, Jay Bouwmeester and Erik Johnson are all great players you should be able to get for around 5k or less.

I was able to pick up a STOW Bouw for i think like 5k. He's a little slow, but pair him with someone quicker, and don't try risky point shots with him and he will be great.

Players try to go outside on him, he ends their careers :)

I love Sharp.. He's AMAZING infront of the net, seems to be only Sharp and Getzlaf for me that can stand infront and actually pickup a loose puck.

You sure there is a SOTW Bouwmeester? Also how is he slow I have the regular Bouwmeester and he is really fast.

Getz is my captain and he's been incredible for me, he's well over a PPG. He just does EVERYTHING both offensively and defensively, been all I could ask for out of a 1st line center. I can't imagine how amazing the SOTW version is but I'll never be able to afford it.

Mike Richards on the other hand has like 8 points in 27 games since I've gotten him. Having Neal and Grabner as mediocre wingers probably doesn't help though so that's why I'd like to add Nash/Sharp. Plus he's still a + player since I don't get scored on very often.

Also if there's a better d pairing in the game than JBo - Burns I'd love to hear it. That pairing has been downright insane for me, I don't think they've ever gotten scored on and they produce tons of offense (though they don't score goals themselves). The speed is just insane.

I'm not denying that at all- he is clearly my best player. But going up vs guys that have 4 lines of all stars, I'm just trying to figure out the best way to build my team. Is it simply selling off your top guys for pucks then trying to win 'steals'?

No the best way to build a team is to replace your worst player with a new player.

Ice tilt must love you. I sold off a sotw, forgot who, for 80k and built a team to start with, to be honest, but you can always try to win steals and make deals on this forum with trades. Everyone on here is fair

EA doesnt want us to sell our players. I have about 300 000pucks worth of players in my trade pile since last week. No one wants to buy them full price.

I found the best way for me was to really get to know the 95-99 chemistry lines, then start building a team that had really good chemistry full of players I like, whose styles work with each other.

In two weeks I was able (through promo market crashes and all) to build my team that's posted above and includes such large ticket items as: Chara, Myers, SOTW Lecavalier, Zetterberg, Nash, Mike Richards, and more.

Biggest differences I've found in team performance are good chemistry, good coach (though I'd still like to upgrade to Samuels), and if you happen to know hockey well enough to forecheck properly, you'll own the glitchers.

And for god's sakes learn the skating engine and take advantage of gliding!!!

Those Ea forums are so hard to read, these have to be the most organized and easy to navigate forums in the world.

Phaneuf - Myers
J. Johnson - Weber
Bouwmeester - Burns

There are my defensive pairings. I have the second and third pairs flipped because I like having JBo - Burns fresh all the time. JJ - Weber are more of my defensive zone specialists and offensive faceoff point shot specialists.

Phaneuf - Myers has been unreal for me. Dion is a beast at both ends and Myers kind of slips into a more defensive role.
