Still pisses me off that Hertl got so much more attention for pulling the same move in the same season.

Hertl's was against Lundquist as the cap on a four goal game for him, plus I think that might've been one of his first NHL games so there was a lot of reason to hype him up.

Wasn't Hertl's against Biron? Who basically quit hockey the next day because he knew he didn't belong anymore. Hertl did it in a blowout against the backup goalie who had given up on the game a few goals before.

Hertl's gave us Big Joe's rooster comment though, so it clearly was the superior of the two.

Well he was one of the up and coming stars who just did a between the legs goal for his 4th of the night thus retiring Biron. Then we just have Gerbe. It's more about the player than the move itself.

Hertl also did it as sort of a goof, which gave an excuse for talking heads to say he wasn't playing the game right, and was being disrespectful, etc... That's what really gets headlines. Once dips***s get a narrative that is more WWE-like than pro sports, the coverage comes in waves. I think it's why the NBA does better than the NHL. They really embrace the Real Housewives style storylines. While the NHL is boring and tries to make it about the sport.

Gerbe pulled the move off in a very NHL way, which gets him no coverage out of a very brief "that was neat."

When the hell are they going to make video available for Traverse City? C'mon, it's 2016, and the NHL has a new livestreaming contract with Twitter. At least set a guy up in the stands with a smartphone for cryin' out loud.

We have an intriguing squad going to Traverse this time. I'm looking forward especially to seeing how the forwards perform. Saarela, Foegele, Zykov, Gauthier, Roy, Kuokkanen, Tolchinsky and Wallmark are all in a position where a big tournament could really raise their stock going into camp. Our top-3 defense of Fleury-McKeown-Bean will also be fun to track.

Plus Nedeljkovic in net... That is a seriously beast roster. I can't imagine any other team has a comparable top-6 F, top-4 D, or goalie. Much less combined.

Is Alex Peters a potential long term project bottom pairing type player or just a depth Charlotte/Florida guy?

Adam Gold's first Canes Corner podcast is up. Not bad. He interviews Peter Karmanos for the whole show and covers the full range of topics (Hall of Fame, relocation, selling team, how the team will do this year, etc.). Only part that made me cringe was when PK made a comment comparing leagues and mentioned baseball. Gold was quick to "correct" his opinion. PK does not sound like a guy in any rush to sell the team...

Great listen. PK also attacks the move everyone to Canada crowd, confirms that the sale thing is about protecting his family financially in case he dies and that he does want to stay involved in the team, defends the Raleigh market and makes it clear that moving is not being contemplated. He also lays out why the forbes team valuations are complete BS.
