I wouldn't assume that's the jersey font, it might be just something they rolled out for the announcement. Supposedly the first actual jersey image leak isn't for another couple of days.

I'm assuming they are just going to get rid of most of the ugly piping. Looks like the removed the white around the neck and shoulders on the back.

My wish list:

No piping.
Less busy bottom of jersey.
Black helmets and black pants with red jersey (a la Flames).
Slightly modified "eye" to have more dimension.

Something is happening with the pants and the socks because its specifically mentioned in the release. The helmet in the picture is red so I don't think you are getting your wish on that one. Black pants might be on the table though. The only other team that has different pants color than helmet is the Rangers (off the top of my head).

You're probably and right and I did notice the red helmet. But my wishful thinking is that it's a misdirection play.

And the other thing I'd like to see removed for the new uniforms is Pitkanen. Mostly because I think he has to go if you want to bring in the kind of Dman the blue line sorely lacks.

From a marketing standpoint, I like what the Canes are doing on social media these days. This is a nice example of leveraging an event to capture consumer data.


Anyway, I hope the fundamental look stays fairly close to what we have had all along, with the major changes being to the striping and piping. That seems to be a near universal sentiment so this should be a softball opportunity to boost jersey sales.

I'm hearing the new "eye" logo will be created by Compuware programmers so yeah, it'll look like it was designed by an etch-a-sketch.

Excellent. This was my biggest concern.

It should be just the change that's needed IMO, keep the main logo, declutter the bottom, and make the look a bit cleaner overall. And though I don't mind the shoulder piping, it seems most here will be glad to see it gone. Pretty excited to see the teasers everyday, we could probably make some pretty funny shops with all of them towards the end

I would. It's clearly a new jersey that's being shown there (no piping, no white in the collar). Why wouldn't they use the current nameplate font if it wasn't being changed? The current font is readable, so why not use it unless it was part of what's being changed?
