New KC Ballpark?

I was there in 1998. Even then it seems a bit old. I would wonder what a new Kauffman (with the fountains) would look like in downtown KC.

it has been renovated since then, sure didnt seem old to me in '14.

Yeah, there have been many renovations in recent years. Some were done for the all-star game in 2012, some in more recent years. It's a nice and simple park, KC doesn't need anything too fancy with how the fanbase is. The park is great for tailgating. I'm originally from St. Louis and moved to KC, and while I would prefer a downtown park, I know a lot of other prefer it where it is just for the tailgating aspects.

Kansas City does not have good enough public transit to handle a downtown stadium. Imagine the traffic, yuck.
Traffic sucks for where it is now depending on where you live. With the streetcar and its potential expansion, building parking infrastructure to make it work wouldn't be difficult. The city handles sold out events at Sprint Center without issue and that's close enough to usual average attendance for Royals games.
