look at the flyers defense and tell me they can't get more than 18 shots.

Maybe, but I was also referring to the shots against. The fact is our forwards stink. For **** sake, Scott Gomez and a 42 year old Jagr are our offense right now.

Agreed.

Pete isn't even qualified to be the head coach of an NHL team. Not sure he's qualified to be a GM in the NHL either. Absolutely he isn't.

The only reason I think that might happen is there was all the speculation Sutter was going to be the czar of the organization when Lou stepped down if he didn't get bitten by the homesick bug. Sutter and Pete are tight and think the same way (even if Sutter was FAR more of a hard *** than Pete). And clearly Pete's had twenty-five lives already.

I'm glad they signed Gomez. He should be an asset for a playoff team; another tradeable player.

Jagr, Gomez, Ryder (maybe not), Havlat, Zids (getting worse), Salvo (forgot he was on the team)...

actually i saw an interesting post in the comments on TG's blog (and you can choose to believe it or not)

someone was saying they were seeing a neurologist or something like that, and said that it was Sal's doctor as well, and that Sal has an inner cochlear concussion, or something along those lines.

now, while that obviously breaches so many levels of confidentiality, it was def something interesting to note - just wanted to throw it in

dude i've been saying this forward crop is not good for a long time lol, I'm just saying the coach is not very good either. This team needs major changes.

..hmmmm, so Salvo forgot he was on the team...In all seriousness, that would suck. I like Salvo as a person very much. That's what kept him out a couple seasons ago.

I said it during the summer, but for Clowe and Salvo, near the ends of their careers, why risk it? Just call it a career and enjoy your wife and kids.

I just, ugh. This is a bad team...

In response to a Connor McDavid comment I made on facebook someone said that even if the Devils finish last they will lose out on the first overall to an expansion team in Vegas. Is that what would happen if there a team added? Would they automatically get the number one? If so, I could so see that scenario happening.

holy crap! I can definitely see that happening.

That's fair, but some people around here seem to think that the team doesn't even put in an effort when I think it has more to do with our lack of ability than anything else.

The day Ryder is off this team will be a happy day for me.

I begin to hate hockey when he is on the ice.

DeBoer may be a stubborn pain in the ass, but he's usually a stickler for effort.

If your team gets outshot game after game (there is a pattern there), and can't score goals, you don't have a coaching problem. You have a talent (read roster) problem. Who ever is responsible for that has to get fired.

The coach is actually doing a good job with what he's got. I would quite.

How is he doing good job exactly? I understand not blaming him, but how can you say he's doing a good job? Cause we're not dead last? What is he doing that's a good job?

Utilizing the players he's got. I would not know how to play those grandpas.

Like Zubrus constantly in the top 6 (on pace for 11 points this season) while better players like Ruutu aren't given those same chances.

Benching Gelinas for how many games now? Cause he can't at defense, but Zidlicky is even worse and gets to **** up with no consequences or accountability.

The effort wasn't there. This team FAILED to keep their feet moving. Most were in glide mode tonight.

Here Pete, let me give you this pile of ****. Now go paint me a masterpiece.

We're playing other piles of **** and getting dominated! I'm sorry, nobody's going to convince me Carolina or the Flyers is SO much better than us that they should double us in shots and dominate games.

relocation then? sorry i guess i missed

A relocated team wouldn't automatically get the #1 pick. Winnipeg didn't get the #1 overall when they moved from Atlanta. They'll pick where they were slotted in the lottery.

This team does NOT attack the net. All shots are from the perimeter in hopes of a rebound to the one guy standing 15 feet from the net. The first 3 games and the Toronto game were the only games I remember when they went to the net.

That's the coach's system in a nutshell. Keep it to the outside. Get back on D. No odd man rushes. Chip it out. Dump into the zone and go get it

That's why these games end 2-1, 3-1, 3-2. You can't score if you don't go to the net or take a risk every now and then.

I think it would be in the NHL's best interest to give a relocated team the next great superstar.... Would not surprise me in the slightest
