Please every person on this board would've signed up for 1 point when we found out Kinkaid was playing. This game had 5-1 written all over it but Kinks was brilliant. So even in a "losing" (shootout, the Devils did not lose the game) effort there is a very bright spot and that's we may have found an ol reliable backup.

And ***** the refs for missing Jon Merrill who got his stick slashed in 3 pieces, then they have the gall to call a penalty on us.:shakehead

Sure we all did. I predicted a shellacking. However, when you are up 2-1 with less than 4 minutes left, unfortunately a feeling of hope enters, no matter how shorthanded you are or who you are playing. It always does. That usual feeling of hope was once again put to rest and it sucks. It really does.

It sucks to not get the 2nd point but *****ing about the team tonight is a low blow. This was a very hard fought game by the Devils. They worked their ***** off against a far superior opponent. The PK's alone were off the charts.

I'm proud of the effort they gave tonight. Whether Chicago brought their best stuff is irrelevant. The Devils were primed to get crushed and instead they nearly came up with 2 points against the hottest team in the NHL. We need more of this.

Exactly. The effort was there cant fault them for trying. Kane,Toews,Hossa,Sharp,Keith and Seabrook. All star caliber guys and the team tonight showed a gutsy effort just didn't have the skill to match those guys

Boucher is AAAA player that ripped apart junior. There are a lot of players like that.

I think he's just a complementary scorer. He doesn't create on his own, so playing him with slugs is useless. He needs a playmaker.

I do think his lackluster first 20 games in the AHL is a little disconcerting, though. Either way, too early to draw any kind of conclusions.

I don't like what I've seen of Boucher. In fact, I think it's very possible he's nothing special or even an NHL player at all. That's why we need to load up on some more forward prospects.

I still would have given him a chance in the shootout. He did have a shootout goal last year, our first and only one for a while actually. And he did score a shootout goal in the preseason too. That's more than almost any guy on this team.

More than Henrique, who constantly gets trotted out there, despite the fact that he's one of the worst shootout players in the league.

He has as many shootout goals as Henrique in his career. He also has as many shootout goals as Jägr in the last year, who's taken countless more attempts over the last year.

I haven't seen anything from Boucher to indicate he's an NHL player

I think he's been told to work on other parts of his game. We don't want Ryder 2.0. So his focus has been diverted away from what he does best.

I always questioned if he was talented enough to get into the necessary scoring spots consistently in the NHL. In the OHL, he was constantly being set up all alone in the slot.

Seems fitting an awful coach such as Maclean defends Deboer

I can't be mad at the team tonight.

It is the no show jobs against the Jets, or the Caps, etc that piss me off because they put themselves in a position where you can't tip their hat to them for an effort like tonight.

That would be so Devils. "Lets take a sniper, make him learn defense and turn him into another 3rd liner".

I never understood this complaint. Him working on his D is going to turn him into a 3rd liner? Um if he has actual offensive talent, the only thing working on his D is going to do is turn him into an Elias instead of a Ryder.

Oh come on they didn't look like garbage the whole game. The Devils actually played tonight and Kink was on.:shakehead

I think they did.

I recall Steve mentioning how the Hawks were one point ahead or behind in the standings or something in their division.....So this game was important.

You're just bitter like I am.

Bitter. Maybe there is some truth to that. I do hate losing. That said, I'm not comparing the Hawks to the Devils to evaluate how well they played. The Devils played about the best game you could expect from them. I'm happy with that (except Zids. Screw him). I'm comparing tonights Hawks team to the Hawks team I usually see. Having watched many other Hawks games, they just didn't look too up for this one. They didn't have the same jump they usually do. The compete level didn't seem quite there. And I suppose that's to be expected when you play a much weaker team. But as good teams do, they still found a way to win in spite of a sub par effort for them.

The Blackhawks got away with a slash in OT and it should have been the Devils on the PP in the extra period, not a man down.

What a shame, they played a gutsy game and if anyone has any criticism, it's not merited in this game.

This x1000000.

It was a great team effort against a top team, with our lineup decimated by injuries.

When was the last time we tied a game late and won against a goalie no ones ever heard of? That game against Anders Nilsson 3 years ago? When was the last time we even tied the game and just got a point in a situation like the Hawks did tonight, on an unknown or rookie goaltender? I can't remember.

I'm pretty certain we came from 2-0 down against Buffalo in the last five minutes of the third during the lockout season to end our six-game losing streak. I 'think' Enroth was playing.

I can't even rip them for same ol' same ol' cause it was so much more than was expected tonight. Only the Devils can give a gritty effort and still rip your heart out in the end  Kinkaid fit right in, great in regulation, horrendous in the shootout. But again more than was expected and he certainly earned another start soon. Shameful it took this long to get him in.

Good game with everything considered. Kinky played huge today and was a difference maker. Had the lead with 3 min left and blew it and then well shootout you know the rest. Not happy with the result but extremely ok with the effort. Just didn't have the firepower late in the game on a back to back

I dont think a single player on our team was a + possession player. Played with heart and all that jazz and blew another 3rd period lead, but the Hawks deserved 2 points

good to hear they put in a good effort vs a better hawks team….(YAY! moral victory!)

…..nothing worse then a putrid blah game where they go through the motions.

and of course i expect a blown lead and SO loss……it would feel weird without it……like kissing your cousin or something like that :p:

take the point and move on i guess
