I suffered from depression, and those were the toughest, saddest months of my life. Anxiety was sky-high, I thought I was going crazy, couldn't sleep without watching TV (sports), couldn't focus at school, couldn't hold a knife in my hand or a fork, stopped seeing most of my friends. I've also experienced panic attacks, so I feel your pain. After a bit more than five months, I broke down in tears in my sister's car and told her about my situation. She also suffers from a mental illness, and I know I can trust her with everything, so we spoke for quite some time. I knew it was a combination of things that caused such a high level of stress, so I did my best to figure out what they were (fitness, family situation, studies, friends and activities).

I decided to work on each factor myself. Went back to boxing and training, spoke to my parents about what I was going through, went to see a counselor at university, and stopped engaging in certain activities with a group of friends. My advice to you is to open up to someone you really trust and let it all out. If you can't, then go see a specialist. Engage also in physical exercise and social activities, and work on the things that cause your anxiety disorder and panic attacks.

Good luck, stay strong and do it!

You bring up a really good point that always helped me in down times, physical exercise. Its like a natural anti depressant. You may not feel like doing it but once you do it, you feel better.

A few of you asked for an update. There isn't much to say. I'm on pills to control the panic attacks but I still intend on going to therapy.
