Good. Had he not complained about ice time earlier in the year, would he get another shot?

I think he should have gotten this year to redeem himself.

He still has plenty of heart. Oh well, easily replaceable in a way.

never thought I'd see this, I thought he was Rolston's little golden boy. It seems like these attachments Rolston has to kids he coached before were going to hamper the team (ie. McPain) but I guess he's not biased.

Is this for a compliance buyout? We are using one of the 2 available on Gerbe?!He only has a year left, why not bury him and take the 550k cap hit.

I can't believe there wasn't a team that would trade for Gerbe in the last year of his deal

They won't waste a compliance buyout right?
You can choose to do a normal buyout instead, right?

You can. I'm guessing that's what this is. The $1.45 million wouldn't serve as a cap hindrance so I can't imagine they'd waste a compliance buyout on him.

The Sabres aren't exactly swimming in crappy contracts to buy-out...Leino is basically the only candidate left, and they're giving him one more season to get things settled.

Not a big deal

Cap shrinkage -- where do you fit a total questionmark for $1.5M this season? Tight cap teams aren't going to go there. Lesser lights have their own tweeners and kids to give a chance to.

I wonder if this is compliance or regular -- and if this has anything to do with his continued rehabing of his back.

Its probably a Tim Kennedy buyout.

Doubt they used a compliance on a 1 year $1.45m player.

I figured they would bury part of his deal in Rochester. If it's a regular buyout...that works too. Just save those compliance!

This isnt a compliance...Gerbe doesnt make enough money for that.

this is the old fashioned buy out.

There are two ordinary buyouts based on age/experience...im not sure if Gerbe qualifies for the cheaper option

http://www.capgeek.com/faq/how-do-buyouts-work

Since he is still 25 its only 1/3 his salary remaining total spread over 2 years.

Owed $1.85M...buy out is 1/3 of that...against the cap spread over 2 years.

For the compliance to work he needs to may $2.75M

Judging by LeBrun's tweets, it's regular, as he followed the Gerbe tweet with a compliance buyout tweet:

Buffalo puts Nathan Gerbe on waivers

Tom Gilbert, Carlo Colaiacovo and Keith Ballard, as expected, also on waivers for purpose of compliance buyouts
