Let me be first to say that this thread does not belong here. There is an international hockey forum.

let me be the first to say that if you cloned Iginla & Lecavlier & Redden you would only need to find a goalie.

Thread Idea:
Could AO make team Canada?

Bleh, Crosbyites are no better. ;)

I want to hear about a rookie who isn't named: Crosby, Ovechkin, Svatos, Bochenski, Phaneuf, Lundqvist, Meszaros, Seabrook (is he a rookie?)...

Anyway, thread's in the wrong place, lock it down.

Offense:

Gagne - Sakic - Iginla

a mix of everything on this line, and the three have tremendous chemistry and skil. Each player brings something else to the table, and they would mesh extremely well.

Heatley - Richards - Lecavalier

Richards is a very smart player, and could playmake for these two snipers. Heatley has shown that he deserves a spot on this team, and Vinny is one of the most naturally skilled players in the world.

Nash - Thornton - Doan

Provided Nash can come back, this would be a great checking line. Thornton proved in the WC that he can shutdown other players, and Doan is also solid. Nash would provide the scoring threat on this line, and it would be a big (but fast) line for opposing teams to deal with.

Crosby - Spezza/Staal - St. Louis

This would be a great energy line, as Crosby and St. Louis are INSANE skaters, as well as solid defensive players. Both centres deserve to go, and it is a toss-up for me.

Defense:

My top 6 would be:
Blake, Pronger, Regehr, Jovanovski, Redden, and Niedermayer.

7th spot to Phaneuf.

Goalies would be Brodeur, Luongo, Theodore/Turco/Cujo.

Well, as long as each line has a nickname, then we should be set for the gold....

I'm sorry but this is hilarious.

Tanguay & Bertuzzi grinders ?? Tanguay's as soft as hot butter and Bertuzzi doesn't know the word defence.

note the quotations...."grinders"

It amazes me why so many people are putting Lecavalier, St. Louis and Richards in the lineup. The fact of the matter is none of them is having a great season. with the talent on that team, and the new rules (which should benefit all of them) only Richards is playing at a point a game pace. Not to mention that all three are one dimensional players.

Lecavalier should make it, but the others, I doubt.

And why are so many people putting Sakic on the top line? Maybe 4 or 8 years ago, but sakic today is no longer top line material. Granted he still has skill, there are other ahead of him at centre like Spezza, Staal and Thornton.

Here is who I think will/should be picked:

*Lemieux* - Sakic - Iginla
Gagne - Richards - Heatley
Draper - Thornton - Bertuzzi
Smyth - Lecavalier - Doan
St.Louis

Pronger - Niedermayer
Blake - Foote
Redden - Jovanovski
McCabe

Brodeur
Luongo
Theodore

*If Lemieux decides not to go, then Crosby will get chosen.*

P.S. - It would be great to see Paul Kariya on the team. He is my favourite player. It would be a great Christmas gift to see him get chosen. But I just don't see it happening.

Something I found interesting from Gretzky:

"I think the biggest change on our team today compared to 2002 and over the years is that (in 2002) we could take centremen and move them to the wing," he said. "You can't move them to the wing now (in 2006). We have so many good wingers now, there's no room to move them.

"We have centres now and we have wingers, and that's the way it's going to be."

"Everybody wants to add guys to the team," Gretzky said. "And that's great, but who gets taken off? We can only have seven defencemen. We can only really have four centremen and unfortunately, when you add guys, you have to take guys off and that's where it becomes really difficult."

Is Gretzky dropping subtle hints that Crosby, Spezza, and Staal will be left off of the team? Is Gretzky trying to gently let everyone down, everyone who wants these young players on the team?

I just can't see any of those 3 players supplanting Sakic, Lecavalier, Thornton, and Richards at centre. And with possibly only 4 centreman being taken, that translates to no Crosby, no Spezza, and no Staal on the team.
