End of the 1st period in Piney Orchard, Maine Nordiques 1 - Maryland Black Bears 1. The visitors took the early lead with an Andrew Noel goal @ the 5 minute mark, but Army commit Hunter McCoy tied it up 5 minutes later. The Bears had a late power play, but the Nordiques had nearly as many offensive chances as their hosts. Maryland will have to get the puck deep in the second if they want to seriously challenge Maine goalie Tyriq Outen & get back in contention in this Eastern Division Finals series.

End of 2, Nordiques lead 2-1 on a goal by Matt Connor. Maryland did kill off a late minor penalty, but they also blew a later breakaway chance to tie the game up again. Just 20 more minutes for the Black Bears to keep their playoff run alive.

And that ends the MD Black Bears franchise's deepest advance in the NAHL playoffs. Final Score = Maine Nordiques 4 - Maryland Black Bears 1. The proverbial insurance goal was scored by Maine's Jack Strauss early in the 3rd period, and Caden Pattison recorded ME's 4th with around 6 minutes left after a Bears defender wedged his stick in the Zamboni door. :ha: Maryland pulled goaltender Hannes Kollen with more than 3 minutes remaining in desperation time, but he had to return after a scrum that put the Bears on the PK.

The Nordiques sweep the Bears to win the East Division championship, and become the first team to secure a spot in the Robertson Cup Semifinals.

Very odd scoring sequence in Wichita Falls near the end of 1st period. The Warriors thought they had scored the first goal, but the referees waved it off & that call stood after consultation with the goal judge. Seconds later, WF thought they had scored again, referee waved his arms again, but a juicy rebound was finally banged home by Thomas Weis. End of one crazy period, Warriors 1 - Mudbugs 0. Wichita Falls will start the 2nd period shorthanded, with the goal scorer building his Gordie Howe entry.

The Warriors competed to the end, but could not regain their early lead in Game #3. Final Score = Shreveport Mudbugs 4 - Wichita Falls Warriors 2. GWG scored @ 19:21 of the final period by Dawson Sciarrino. An ENG with 5 seconds left just turned the dagger one more twist in first-year WF's backs. Congrats to the South Division's first seed Mudbugs, as they move on to the Robertson Cup Semifinals.

Up in South Dakota, another Robbie Cup competitor was set by another sweep in the Central Division Finals. Final Score = Aberdeen Wings 3 - Bismarck Bobcats 1. The game winner was scored by Jordan Randall in the 2nd period. B:hockey:

But over in Minnesota, the displaced Brown Bears avoided a sweep with a shutout of the Midwest Division's #1 seed. Final Score = Kenai River Brown Bears 2 - Minnesota Magicians 0. GWG for future Lindenwood University star Max Helgeson with about 5 minutes to go in regulation, and the shutout for UMass Amherst commit Luke Pavecich stopping all 32 Magicians shots. These two teams will play Game #4 on Saturday night with KR hosting again on their adopted home ice.
