More cameras available at Fogerty Ice Arena than for any previous HockeyTV webcasts this playoffs, with very good lighting for video images. Now they've just gotta get a main camera operator who can keep it aimed at the puck in play. :nono:

End of 1 period, Mudbugs 1 - Nordiques 1. Lots of north-south skating by both teams, with good speed & quick transitions. After the early goals, things got very physical & mouthy for both teams. Shreveport had the only penalty (minor to Dawson Sciarrino) but killed it off very effectively. SOGs tilted to Shreveport 11-6. Watch for more heat-on-ice in Period 2.

Early in the 2nd, Mudbugs get a man-advantage after a roughing minor to Maine's Jackson Vercelleno. Shreveport breaks the Nordiques 16 PK streak in this playoffs, and takes a 2-1 lead. PP goal credited to Adam Kolcon.

Nordiques' Patrick Schmiedlin (Colorado College) takes a slashing penalty with just over 3 minutes left in the 2nd. But his teammates survive the PK by keeping the Bugs mostly on the perimeters.

End of 2 periods, Shreveport leads Maine 3-1. SOGs still favor the Bugs, 25-15. Both ME goalie Tyriq Outen & SHV's Cole Hudson (VT commit) are playing strong in nets tonight. Should be a rocking 3rd period, which will start with the remainder of matching minors to Maine's chief troublemaker Isaiah Fox (Long Island U) and an unknown Shreveport co-conspirator. :dunno:

Bugs' Procopio scores his second on a shot off Outen's back from behind the end red in the corner, and Shreveport leads 4-1 with under 5 minutes left in regulation.

Final Score = Shreveport 4 - Maine 1. The game ended with the Nords on a brief power play after more unpleasantness on the ice followed by a shouting match in the boxes. But the outcome was unaffected, and Cole Hudson earned his 7th straight playoff win with no losses. The Mudbugs now have a 1-0 semifinals series lead, with Game #2 @ 7:30 p.m. Central on Saturday.

End of the 1st, Wings 1 - Magicians 1. Minnesota briefly took control of the O-flow after their tying goal, but they lost that momentum as quickly as they found it. The Wings had two pipe ringers (one was a double) as that period wound down, among their many offensive advances.

End of the 2nd, still 1-1. Aberdeen dominated play through the first 8 minutes, then Minnesota gained composure and got the ice tipped slightly in the other direction. That lasted about 4 minutes, then the game became an end-to-end affair with shots from every part of the offensive zones which will favor the Wings if that pace continues into the third period. SOG totals 21-14 in favor of ABD.

With 1:25 left in regulation, Kyle Gaffney (Fairbanks) scores to regain the lead for the Wings. Minnesota then pulled Andy Beran for an extra attacker, but they could not get a second puck past Jake Sibell (Niagara U) and the Wings are in the Robertson Cup Finals. Final Score = Aberdeen Wings 2 - Minnesota Magicians 1.

Next up, Nords v Bugs @ 7:30 p.m. Central.

And Dorfman scores again about 7 minutes into the 1st period, on another gritty play in the slot. Mudbugs lead 2-0.

Quick 1st period in the books, Shreveport 2 - Maine 0. The Mudbugs dominated the flow for all but maybe 1 minute of play total. SOGs tell the tale: 13-3, favor of you-know-who.

End of 2 periods, 4-0 Mudbugs. SOGs now 30-9. The Mainers are very close to being sunk.
