A first round pick for a 5'10" and 165lbs forward with numbers that are not that exciting? Given how things go in the NHL, he's probably more like 5'9" and 160lbs after dinner. I'd pass on the 1st round pick part, but that's just me.

Career body of work clearly shows Garland is the superior player and it’s not even close. It’s not all about cost per point from half a season. Garland also gets zero PP1 time. Garland is 1st on the Canucks in even strength points.

Explain how Garlands career body of work is significantly better? Back it up.

Debrusk also doesn’t get any PP1 time.

I'm not here to disparage DeBrusk as i like him and wouldn't mind the Canucks making a play for him.

In the last 2 yrs
Garland has 47 primary pts 5v5 and 55 total
DeBrusk has 21 primary pts 5v5 and 30 total.

That's a significant gap

This is just one of the many ways Garland is better. There you go.

Covid year was a big off year for Jake so it’s misleading. You are missing his three super productive years prior where two of them he paced for 50 points and one in which he paced for 30 goals. He is back to that level of play this year.

It’s like me saying well Garland has had 70 points in the last two seasons and Pettersson has only 60 points so he’s better. You’re gunna be like wait…

Also not trying to say JD is better than Garland just that it’s closer than some may think

"Big off years" are when players don't play well, right? Okay, I can see your point, a player's performance isn't really relevant when you're talking about their performance.

Garland massively outperformed Debrusk at ES the year before as well, despite getting significantly less ice time. So that's three straight seasons in which he's been a demonstrably far more productive player.

29 ES points for Garland the year before to Debrusks 25 is a massive outperformance?

Y’all have outdone yourself here lol

all even strength production numbers

DeBrusk 2016-2019 goals p/60 = 1.01 .....primary assists p/60 = 0.54.....pts p/60 = 2.04

DeBrusk 2019-2022 goals p/60 = 0.82....primary assists p/60 = 0.44.....pts p/60 = 1.70
DeBrusk 2021-2022 goals p/60 = 1.18......primary assists p/60 = 0.36....pts p/60 = 2.00

Garland 2019-2022 goals p/60 = 1.05......primary assists p/60 = 0.87....pts p/60 = 2.28
Garland 2021-2022 goals p/60 = 1.06......primary assists p/60 = 0.98....pts p/60 = 2.36

So you see again Garland is on another level in terms of offensive production. His primary assists are twice as good and his pts overall are superior while they are comparable goal scorers.

As i outlined before even if you want to forget about last year. Primary pts this year is 25 to 17 for Garland and 29 to 22 in total pts. Over the last 3 yrs DeBrusk 28g 15a....Garland 40g 33a Primary 73 to 43

The year before you reference was Garlands 1st season and he's trending up each year since but i didn't exclude it to bend the stats.

DeBrusk is more in Tanner Pearson territory which is a very good middle six production player. In fact over the last 3 yrs they are almost identical in production. Of course JD is worth more because he's 25.
