Good to hear about Dach. Was never the highest on him, but sounds like him not playing C has helped him develop his game.

Yeah, nothing to do with him not being at C where he also looked really good. It's just that know he gets to play with Caufield and Suzuki instead of some broken down vet like Gallagher.

They did trade for him to play C, behind Suzuki. They will need that for the time being even if they end up drafting a C in the first round this upcoming draft (barring it being one of the top 2/3 C who would step right into the NHL next season). But, good that he's putting up some points now. Maybe that gives him more confidence later if/when they shift him to C.

Habs have 5 C's on their roster and he's there because of his playmaking and chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield. I think he's probably a placeholder until Slafkovsky is ready to play there and they'll move him to 2 or 3C depending who they draft or trade. In the meantime, he's gaining confidence and putting up points

They might also get Dubois though, considering he's been trying to force a move to Montreal. If they get him, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dach stick to the wing if he keeps doing great with Suzuki and Caufield.

I think eventually moves back to C. But MSL can't ignore the chemistry and production he has with Suzuki and Caufield. He's produced 7 points in 4 games playing with CauZuki.

Habs will need to find secondary scoring eventually. Maybe next season after they shed all of Monahan, Dadonov, Drouin and Byron's contracts (21M).

Dach was playing fairly well at C before going up with Suzuki and Caufield, the analytics were very good.

We just have almost nothing beyond Suzuki and Caufield to generate consistent offence. So Dach was sort of an island at C. So many washed up, overpaid, broken down veterans on our team. And an 18 year old who shows flashes of great stuff but it's not consistent.
Kind of like Monahan now. He was playing pretty good their wing and has hit a wall since playing C.

Pretty sure Dach goes to other way if we trade for PLD

for sure. possible. lots of moving part. PLD is a pipe dream at this point - guess we'll see. 2023 draft is the other prize

The only reason he'd be a pipe dream is if the Jets get really stubborn and price him out despite him wanting to leave. We know the Habs are interested and have tried to trade for him last summer. We also know that he wants to come here bad. Matthews to Arizona is a pipe dream. Dubois to Montreal might not happen because it's life but it's not a pipe dream.
