So many 4th round picks..

My guess is we saw this year at the draft that the cost for "trade ups" in the 2nd to early 3rd round pick was a 4th.

Wouldn't be surprised if 2 of those 4th rd picks are sacrificed at the draft to upgrade Montreal's two 2nd rd picks. Heck, even that extra 5th (Florida's) may be used to upgrade Montreal's 3rd rd pick.

Could see them have 3 selections in the top 40, and a total of 4 in the top 65 in was is considered so far to be a deep draft.

Not too shabby considering the draft will be in Montreal & that they already have a top 5ish prospect pool in the league.

yeah...this isn't a move that even remotely requires that kind of response. it's a depth move with a low pick.
It’s a player who makes a team worse for a pick that has legitimate value. Not much value, but infinitely better than the player acquired.

It's 'yikes' in the sense that an NHL GM is giving up actual assets for a skater that isn't NHL calibre. Nobody is saying they gave up the world.

again, depth move for a low value pick. it's practically not worth the reaction you're both giving it.

Pretty much. The fact that an NHL GM (even a bad one) would single this guy out as someone to acquire by giving up any asset is troubling to say the least. Says a lot about the level of talent evaluation.

to be fair Deslaurier broke his jaw and had a cage for quite a while it didnt do him any favors.. by the end of the year he was playing a bit better but he had already lost his spot for more efficient and healthy players. wouldnt be surprised if he becomes a fan favorite. the guy play his heart out. can be surprisingly good at cycling the puck and even scoring nice goals. if heatlhy (it was a year to forget) could be an excellent grinder 10 goals 10 assists

Yeah, I'd feel the same way I did when the habs acquired Douglas Murray. If you're actually being paid to watch this game and can't identify a fridge on skates, you're a joke.

Man, I love it how a 4th rounder is somehow legit prospect. In actual reality: this is meaningless pick for AHL fodder.

want to make a bet on who ends up with more NHL games. that 4th round pick or Deslauriers?

and the fact that YOU really believe you know how to evaluate hockey players and question the ducks "talent evaluation" is more telling about yourself....just because you say something, doesnt make it true....figure it out
