My friend, once again he isn't having a terrible tourney but that being said he is tied at second last in defensive scoring with only one assist in 3 games, Dobson has only one goal and looking at it now he should be on my honorable mentions as well. Bouchard is doing just fine tho not sure what you're on about there 3 assists in 4 games is decent +7 and hasn't taken any penalties. I'm not ragging at McIsaac once again he isn't even on the list he was just an honorable mention. He should be preforming better that's all i'm trying too say

You clearly don't know much about McIsaac if you are using offensive stats to talk about his performance. He isn't an offensive defensmen and that is exactly why he is on the team. He blocks shots, hits and plays the PK and that is what he has done.

Maybe you should have a closer look at Josh Brook who plays on the top pairing and has only 2 assists, maybe he should provide more offense.

He entered this tournament as arguably the best player or very close to that. I'm not surprised he's playing well even out of position, so I do not think he fits that thread.

Shen was the player that surprised me the most. Poehling was also a welcome surprise.

Tolvanen and Zadina were my biggest disappointments. I did not expect dominance, but at least a greater impact on that WCJ.
Lafreniere also left me a bit disappointed. But he is one of the youngest players in the tournament, so I can understand why he has not yet been able to show his potential.
Perfectly said my friend

You obviously haven't watched much of Russia at all without your homer goggles on Romanov?

:dunno:

Podkolzin has been doing nothing but turning heads so far this tourney. He's even getting top pp minutes over some of the older boys which is unheard of on any Russian junior team.
Podkolzin is still undrafted and I was hesitant to put the undrafted kids in my list. I agreed he has been a bit of a let down. But I'm not sure what people expected

Have no clue why people are hating on Lafreniere so much. Kid just turned 17 a couple months ago, you really think he's gonna be a dominant force at an U20 tournament?
Not sure if you actually read my thing or just commented b3cause I had lafreniere. Not having. And I said that I recognize he is still very young and nobody 3xpected him too be leading the tourney or anything I'm just saying that he has under preformed for the player he is talked up too be

Most surprising: my prospects. Most dissapointing: your prospects.
look at the stats broski, its no secret. are you gonna argue that Poehling and Romanov arent playing out of their skin right now? look at everyone's all star teams, and Zadina isn't doing ANYTHING you gotta take those Detroit shades off my boy. not saying they arent good players, they are just not preforming as good as they should be

Pretty much. Everyone pumping their own guys.
For many of us this is one of the few times we see our teams prospects and every mistake or good play gets amplified. It’s a short tourney and it’s really hard to project NHL success or failure from it.

I think it's a lot to expect Lafrienere to be a stand out at this tournament. It's truly an "older" players event and even the best of prospects are middling as underagers.

Tolvanen has had an underwhelming tournament, but it's inaccurate to say he was expected to be a difference maker in Nashville this year. Heck, we didn't even know if he would go back to Jokerit when the season started, and if he stayed he was expected to be developing in Milwaukee. It's long past the point where we realized his KHL performance was just a hot streak and he's really the guy from draft day who needs a few years to develop.

The unfortunate part of the WJC is that Tolvanen had been playing a lot better in Milwaukee and had a call-up to the Preds where he got a couple of points, so we were hoping he'd go tear up the worlds and boost his confidence even further, instead we got this...

Gets mad someone cites stats to gauge a players performance because they aren't an offensive Dman. Then cites stats to gauge performance for a player that isn't an offensive Dman.

That's exactly what I did I know Brook isn't an offensive dman. That one flew over your head though clearly.

I mean you are right, but Romanov is Russia MVP and Poehling is USA mvp.... It's not because they are our prospects, IMO romanov/Poehling/Frost are all the best prospects so far for each team...

I understand that you are mad because Zadina is seriously underwhelming, but the Habs prospects are legitimately the MVP of their own team except for Finland/Sweden, and Suzuki is still debatable as a top piece for Canada before Glass.

Tolvanen is going to be a dominant player for NAshville, he is just off at the WJC, it happens, same for Zadina

I am not angry nor being a homer. I just thought it was funny.

I definitely wouldn't say Zadina has lived up to expectations so I agree. Though I think some folks are going way overboard. Hoping for a big game tonight.

Really this WJC has had a different feel than most to me. There aren't any dominating forces out there as usual, or so it seems. I guess we'll learn more tonight.

Habs fan here, but no way is Suzuki have been better then Glass so far...Glass have been Canada best player so far IMO.

Agree with everything else.

I wish Canada would switch Tippett with Suzuki though. At least those two (Suz and Glass) have experience playing with each other.

It's more a question of chemistry. I've seen Glass attempt to set up Tippett a number of times and the latter is constantly whiffing on one time attempts. I think Glass and Suzuki have more of an understanding of each other.
