At least on the Avs, both Rantanen and Landeskog are more overrated by the general hockey community compared to Makar.

Add Miro Heiskanen, not even a genuine number 1 defenceman yet stupidly compared to greats. Doesn’t belong in the same tier as Dahlin, Hughes and Makar.

Seth Jones is also very overrated, so I voted for him. Not good enough offensively to be considered a top 5 defenceman in the NHL.

Pettersson and Matthews are not overrated, because a lot of people constatly call them overrated. Then by definition, you are not overrated. I definately feel like Jones or Slavin would be better choices for most overrated though. Small market players tend to get overrated because people rarely see their bad games and weaknesses, people only see their highlights and assume that is how they always play.

Seth Jones is super overrated on HF. Never been a Norris finalist, last 2 seasons finished 9th (18/19) and 14th (19/20), but some people are on here calling him a "legit top 5 Dman". Never seen that for any other player in history.

Before someone comes with the typical "PHWA/media are clowns, they don't watch games, etc", just remember that HFs recent end of season awards voting was basically the same as the actual award voting. So if they are clowns who don't watch games then I guess the majority on here are as well.

He has been very far off when it comes to regular season point production. Makar has a 0.88 PPG in the NHL, Hughes a 0.78 and Dahlin a 0.60 ( 0.68 last season while becoming the second highest scoring teenage defenceman ever). Heiskanen has a ppg of 0.45 in the NHL, 0,51 last season.

Lets compare some defensive and two way stats, with the team rank since these stats are almost irrelevant otherwise, since they are heavily influenced by team puck possession.

What picture does these stats paint? There is not much to separate them defensively, based on this. Makar is probably slightly worse than the rest in his own zone, but defensive ability is generally not really something you can base on stats. Offensively though, there clearly is a substantial difference.
