I want to share your optimism on Granberg.

How is he projected to max out potential wise?

I guess you never know until the player starts getting minutes.

Didn't Jake Muzzin surprise people in LA?

Granberg has WJC and WHC gold medals. He was already good enough to play up against Stamkos.

It's okay we share the same optimism. I like winners, winning follows Petter around.

Watched the 2013 u20 final game (Swiss against Swedes) Granberg was #6 playing quick shifts and on the PK. Game was a 0-0 tie going into overtime. Granberg was positionally sound almost all game. I saw him lose his edge once and got turned around another time letting a man lose in front, but overall he was impressive. Skates, passes very well, will not rush the puck but just steady. He was on the ice when the Swedes won in overtime 4-4. I also watched the WC game as well.

He will,be even better now. He looks very much like Gunnarsson when he plays, clears the crease with more vigor.

I like that this season will feature defensive minded defencemen on each pair (I think) which would allow Rielly's minutes to be raised and less of a focus on a shutdown pair on most nights.

With this thinking, I think Rielly/Gardiner - Phaneuf or Rielly/Gardiner - Robidas would be nice pairings. Might as well say **** it and give the kids the keys to the car.

Wonder if they'll roll with 7 defenceman and 12 forwards to start the season.

Either way, injuries will happen (most likely Robidas) and Franson/Granberg/Percy will step in nicely.
