Rielly had a couple of longshot chances to score, but the puck didn't fall his way to be honest. Hoping he can get the three goals he needs to break the Leafs record...

He made a couple of wicked passes though...fun as always to watch him live.

So Rielly becomes the 3rd Leaf defenceman ever to score 70 points, after Salming and Turnbull. And the first since 1980. Almost 40 years ago. What a huge accomplishment. He’s become the kind of player I’d always hoped he’d become. And with experience, should only get even smarter over time.

UPDATE: Rielly at 20g, 50 a, 70 pts.
5 games remaining: @Sens, @Isles, Canes, Lightning, @Habs

2 goals to tie the record, 3 to break it . . . he's definitely got a chance, and it starts with Ottawa.
If Morgan has a big multi-point game somewhere here, the points record could also be close - but it's doubtful he gets to 79pts.
66 assists obviously isn't happening.

Ok, it all starts with the Sens - a bad team who plays great against us usually . . . let's get'er done Captain Morgan!

He's also playing with arguably two first lines as well. Can you imagine Kaberle on this team?

Well, I feel like Morgan lost a huge opportunity to make a dent in the record books with that game vs Ottawa... But knowing how unpredictable our team is, I feel like he can get a goal (or 2?) perhaps in a game like tonight. Here's hoping!

Rielly has the third highest single season point total of all 2012 draftees. Coincidentally the two in front of him (Teravainen and Hertl) both topped 70 points for the first time this season as well.

Interesting stat, and quite an accomplishment for Morgan as a D-man.
Looking forward to his future run at a playoff record for a d-man . . . :naughty:
