Both will be equally important IMO. One as the rock solid number 1 D man, and the other as the Captain.
This^^^^^ As I posted. Both

If my head cold congested head is thinking straight, Nieds rookie year, he and Stevens played together. But I understand and agree with the idea. Bleedred can back/debunk me.
They guy I would like to see make it is Gelinas. Besides Chambers for a short time NJ has never really had a bomb from the point.
So in a perfect Devils world in which both guys pan out, you'd pair them? And not run 2 defensive pairings with a dynamic player?
I wouldn't trade a 7th rounder for ovechkin with that contract he has let alone our two future stars.
I have not seen enough in Larsson yet to really feel we have a franchise type of player with him.
I wanted Hueberdeau to drop or for us to take Corey Murphy at the time. I hope Larsson proves me wrong.
I've been excited about Gelinas since I saw a poster who saw him in the Q say that he reminded him of Pronger. He might never reach quite that level, but I think he is going to be a valuable player.
He is big, mobile, strong defensively, physical when he needs to be, and he has a wicked shot. I'd love to have a guy with his skill set on the Devils defence for many years.
wut
He made the team (and this is the Devils we're talking about) on merit as an 18 year old. For the first 3 months of the season, he was the BEST DEFENSEMAN on the Devils. He played 65 games and led Devils D on points, 6 points behind Zidlicky in roughly the same amount of games! NINETEEN YEARS OLD.
He may end up as the Brian Campbell instead of the Keith or Seabrook, but that's not a slight against him. He won't be flashy, but he's the guy you can trust in any situation and with his efficient style, he could be a huge minute eater. You build your defense around guys like Larsson.
Campbell is flashier than Seabs. Just saying.wut

well, you might be a fool to not want ovi, kovy, and zajac on a line together based on the coaching ****show in washington. he'd thrive here. but, moot point. he won't be moved. just more of a hypothetical.
This Poll-Thread is missing the "ALL OF THE ABOVE" option.
Why does it have to be one or the other?
A game winner late in an SCF game 4 facing elimination, where it was the most skilled goal of his can't be overlooked either. It was also the most skilled goal the Devils scored during the SCF. Everything else was a rebound, empty net, deflection, ridiculous bounce off someone, or Quick wandering and misplaying it. Not to mention he was the only guy who could score more than one goal for us that series.I vote henrique. I don't know, something about 2 series clinching overtime goals as a rookie is not an accident
Because the word "more"
I'm thinking your misspeaking hear.
But I agree with your sentiment. People are thinking our glut at d diminishes Larssons value. but there is no one amongst our current D-men or our d prospects who can match Larssons upside. While there are numerous guys who will probably have better careers then Henrique, some of which have plenty left in the tank, already on the roster.
Doesn't matter whether it's "more", "less", or "equal".....
BOTH are the future of the Franchise, PERIOD
Larsson learned from Larry Robinson and is learning from Scott Stevens. I'm pretty sure DeBoer isn't the primary one developing him.
