My problem is that it also resides on hope. We hope he goes back into form. You do not right now acquire a surefire backup that is already doing great. That's all.

But if he does great, it's perfect.

Which is more than likely. Montreal will be contenting for the playoffs, and Kinkaid guarantees a rested Price. He played 40 games the last 2 seasons, won 26 the season before. This signing gives Price a real backup and some breathing room. Niemi and Lindgren don’t.

Nobody said Kinkaid is playing 35-40 games. Kinkaid can easily win between 15-20 games in 25-30 games. Price isn’t playing more than 60 games this year.
