No... Just no. We want Gallagher or Domi if we're giving up a player like Hanifin.

No offense but both those players make your team worse. Isolated, both would be improvements over Hanifin but Calgary needs d more than they need top 6 guys. Calgary ran Lindholm and Tkachuk as their RWs last game, do they really need Gallagher there? I mean not comparing players at all but that's a really good RW duo. I get it, bumping Lindholm to centre would be cool and all but it seems more painful to lose Giordano's replacement.

Also same with Domi, with his defensive ability, Lindholm would need to be glued to his line. Domi would be a redundancy for the Habs soon but doesn't really fit the needs of the Flames. As a 2c he would be cool but wouldn't be enough to offset the loss of your future top D.

Id argue that the only Habs that it would make sense to trade him for would be Petry, Tatar, Denault, or Drouin.

Ignoring cost and age, slipping Tatar or Drouin into the 2LW shores up the top 6 and creates scoring options in the 3LW (Mangiapane instead of Lucic). Also drops Rinaldo out of the lineup. Denault could take over for Backlund and partner with Lindholm to create the best shutdown line in the league. Petry is a bonafide 1D and provides, at least temporarily, a boost on the blueline.

I know none of those trades quite makes sense because of Hanifan's age but those 4 are better fits than Domi or Gallagher. Calgary really doesn't need RWs or defensively weak centres over future top pairing D.

Calgary laughs. Hanifin hasn't even reached his potential yet and is miles ahead of the bucket of "meh" the Habs are offering

Really? Because Mete is a year and a half younger than Hanifin, has a better PPG ratio than Hanifin this year and have been blowing him out in every single possible defensive metrics since he joined the league :/

I’m pretty sure the Meh asset in this proposal is Hanifin himself

Mete is a keeper and one of the most underrated defensive in the NHL today IMO. He's starting to show signs of producing points this year too. Might jump to the 20-30 range as a 21 year old. I was hard on him before but he keeps proving the doubters wrong.

I would not trade Bennett straight across for Lehkonen, and I certainly would not trade Hanifin for Mete.

Poehling has middle six upside - but always thought he was overrated despite being a very solid prospect.

Easy pass from this flames fan.
only reason people shit on Poehling is because they Hockeydb his NCAA career and can't figure out for their life why is value is so high when his basic stats are not that great.

I am not dumping on Poehling. He is a very solid prospect that should have a long NHL career, but not that blue chipper that many would lead you to believe after his performance as a 19 year old at the WJC's and his first NHL game. Look at a guy like Dillon Dube for Calgary who is just 6 months older and doesn't get half the respect despite also playing in back to back WJC's.. captaining Canada to gold, producing at point per game levels at the AHL level, and cracking an NHL team out of camp as a rookie in his first year.

He isn't the piece that would make Calgary pull the trigger on this deal, as he is not a direct upgrade what we have.

That's all. No slagging going on here.
