Pretty well accomplished our goals for this deadline.
Was much easier as we are exempt from the upcoming expansion draft.

Could still trade Lehner but a quality backup must be coming back in the deal and be worth the risk.

Trades:
Dylan Strome
Mikkael Hakkarainen
for
2021 first round pick
William Carrier
Nick Holden

Dimity Kulikov @50%
for
Ryan Reaves
2021 2nd (VGK)?

You have a great backup parked in the AHL at the moment... :)

NSH is still on the market. Both as sellers and buyers. We have informal talks and discussions with teams regarding several players. Mikael Granlund is on the market for the right deal. Ryan Johansen is possible to acquire if it makes sense for NSH. We are talking with several teams regarding Ryan Ellis, who's one of the best in the league in his position and with his caphit.

We also have several good middle six and bottom six forwards with experience that could fit well into your playoff push and on good cap hits. We also have some physical depth defensemen that can round out your d-core and Pekka Rinne who could go to the right contender as a solid goalie pickup with plenty of experience. Open to retaining some salary on him.

We are looking for a young center if it can fit, also looking at other forwards and picks/prospects (forwards & defensemen).

As it stands as of now.

Our available players:
  • Ryan Johansen
  • Mattias Ekholm (traded to Montreal Canadiens)
  • Mikael Granlund
  • Pekka Rinne

We desperately need cap space we literally have 300k in space this year and Brett Ritchie as our top-line RW with a few guys to extend in the summer. If we don't move Gio and Seattle doesn't take him in the summer we'll have like 6 mil in space to sign a backup goalie, upgrade the D, and find two top-9 RW's with virtually no expendable assets and a bottom-5/10 prospect pool. I think every single team in the league would tell u 6.75 mil in cap space is extremely extremely valuable and would have plans to use it, especially with the players available this summer. Gio or Danault, Schwartz, Hyman, Landeskog+3rd? No brainer. I honestly don't think Melnyk or any other team is taking Gio's 7 mil without retention or sending cap back. Or we don't get an FA and we maintain flexibility to take advantage of a team in a bad spot this summer. If we keep Gio we'd just have less flexibility, an equally bad D as this year which has us 28th in the league, and no extra 3rd.

you traded me Ritchie

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired LD Ben Hutton (50% retained) from the Anaheim Ducks for C Nils Åman.

Can never have enough NHL level Dmen in the playoffs, and this will keep the Avs from having to play Renouf if there are 2+ injuries. Hutton comes at only a $475k caphit which is easily absorbed. It also puts pressure on Graves so that he keeps playing his best.

Toews -- Makar
Byram -- Girard
Graves -- Braun
Hutton -- Timmins
MacDonald - Pateryn
Renouf -- Burroughs
Gilbert

Ottawa Senators are happy the Mark Giordano has agreed to waive his no movement clause to come be a leader and teach the young kids in ottawa how to be a pro. We did tell Mark that if the opportunity arose with the right offer we would let him go after the cup either this year or next. We can retain 50% of his salary and take on a bad contract to make this happen. So for 3.4m ish a team can get a norris trophy winning dman(less than 2 years ago) who is hungary for a cup.
