Last 3 seasons:
Rantanen 212 points in 197 games (1.08PPG)
Marner 230 points in 223 games (1.03PPG)

Last 3 years Rantanen on average has actually produced at a higher rate. Last season was the first season since 16-17 that Marner produced at a higher rate and that was largely due to Rantanen having an injury plagued season.

Why use the injury excuse for Rantanen and then not do it for Marner?

Marner hurt his ankle and was out for a month.

Rantanen's size, strength, and ability to dominate in the offensive zone make him to tough to resist.

Even if you disregard that comment, Rantanen has still produced at a higher rate than Marner the past three seasons.

Contracts aside it’s definitely Marner for me.
He’s the much better play driver and personally I just feel he’s more electric and more fun to watch.

No question Marner is the better play driver and more exciting player and he has been more consistent as well.

Rantanen has higher upside and has a higher peak to his game, but so far has been pretty inconsistent. With almost a full year to get healthy we'll see if he had some nagging injuries or if this is the type of player he is.

On the Avs it's close. On one hand, Marner gives us another line driver to play behind Mackinnon. However, Rantanen has very good chemistry with Mack and no matter how bad he looks, he still manages to put up points and makes the plays when it matters.

Marner is a better player, but Rantanen plays with Nathan Mackinnon.

Close, but I'll take Marner

Rantanen. Less of a passenger than Marner.

Actually if you include playoffs Rantanen had a better ppg than Marner this past year too. In 19/20 regular season+playoffs Rantanen was 1.09ppg and Marner was 1.08.

If you look at regular season + playoffs there’s only been one season of the 4 they’ve been in the league where Marner had a better ppg that Rantanen and that was their rookie year.

Rantanen has had a higher points per game than Marner in each of the last 3 years (playoffs and regular season).

In the last 3 regular seasons/playoffs combined Marner has 247 points in 242 games total. Rantanen has 251 points in 230 games total.

So actually he produces more if the last 3 seasons are any indication.

Rantanen is not a better producer than Marner. He gets more PP time than Marner. There's a big difference.

Cool selective stat bro, let’s see if I can do that in Marner’s favour. Marner out produced Rantanen the last two years and in their rookie years. In fact! In their first 4 years their second season is the only year Rantanen put up more points than Marner

If you look at their career PPG average it's 0.97 for Marner and 0.89 for Rantanen.

I see you’re not actually reading what the poster wrote again.
I saw exactly what he was saying. However the fact is if you include their PPG during their 4 seasons in the NHL, Marner has the better career stats in that category,

Besides their rookie seasons when Marner was at 0.79 PPG and Rantanen 0.51 PPG if you don't include the 2020 playoffs, Marner's PPG in the 2019-20 regular season was 1.14 and Rantanen was at 0.98 PPG.
