Those two players will fetch different caliber defenseman.

Trading Marner would be very dumb.

Nylander is having a bounce back year and I think is a great player. Something around Nylander and Dumba seems fair.

it sounds fair but Dumba isn't the defenseman this team needs. TOR needs a solid defensively excellent defenseman.

I always felt like a Marner for Doughty makes sense for both teams, Kings rebuilding and get a great young player, Leafs get a guy who they still probably can get like 4-5 good seasons out of

Doughty still has it but is complacent and tries to do too much because he wants to win. If he is traded then it has to be for a young D...

Would like a young D-man for Marner or Nylander. Who do you think the Leafs could get for either?

finally, the voice of reason
at last TOR admits it needs to deal quality strength for quality need.

Guys like Heiskanen or Parayko etc are not available

In the next tier is the emerging still rfa expiring Deangelo
he will command close to Dumba's 6 per but with a long term escalating deal you can probably do more like 4 for the first year next season.

I consider
Buch [helps replace Nyl offense a bit] + Geo + Dea
for
Nylander

to be an overpayment, but something around that can work

I don't see many if any being available. Maybe a nylander tier but definitely not a marner tier.
