Of course they did. That's what everyone was doing before there was a lockout and the league came up with rules against it, and retrospective punishment for it. We would have been looking at a $7m+ cap hit if Pronger had only got a four year deal.

I just wish Holmgren had made the total value of the contract $35 million cause a $4,941,429 cap hit is a pain in the butt to work with.
