Portland and LV only viable options to relocate the Yotes that don't ravage NHL alignment

- LV gets relocated Yotes cheap ,, Play 1 year elsewhere or in lousy arena while construction finishes up on stadium
- Portland + Seattle get teams when Seattle gets its act together
- Panthers to QC some point down line

NHL at 32 goes to 8 div setup

Div 1 - Mtl , QC , Ott , Bos
Div 2 - Tor , Buf , Det , Clb
Div 3 - Phi , Pit , NYR , NYI
Div 4 - NJ , Was , Car , TB

Div 5 - Chi , Stl , Min , Nsh
Div 6 - Edm , Cal , Col , Wpg
Div 7- Van , Sea , Por , SJ
Div 8 - LA , Ana , LV , Dal

From top to bottom, I think I like TB better, but I just can't root against Kimmo. He needs his name on the cup.

He was on the cup regardless but this will feel a lot more legitimate to Kimmo being that he played in a game and wasn't left to petitioning the league.

I thought I read that he would need either 41 regular season games with the team or 1 game played in the Stanley Cup Final--I thought that last part meant the actual Finals itself. No?

Yes those are the technical requirements but teams can petition the NHL to include names of players that maybe didn't play 41 games in the regular season but then played a bunch of playoff games in rounds 1-3 but didn't dress for any SCF games.

It's pretty much a guarantee that if the Hawks win the cup they will petition to get his name on there if he doesn't get in any of the games.

Coincidence that it was the highest when Crosby came into the league? I think not! :sarcasm:

Interference has made its return to the game and the refs allowed it to happen. They don't ever call it even though it happens all the damn time. When they came back from the lockout that crap didn't fly and the league was supposed to weed it out and create an open more explosive game. It worked for a little bit but now it's right back to where it was. Admittedly the Hawks and Bolts aren't as bad at it compared to the Kings and Rangers last year.

its been going on for a few years now at least. Teams know they can get away with it and now most teams implement some sort of trapping/interference in their game plan. As long as teams know they can get away with it and it helps them win nothing is going to change. The Flyers have been guilty of it under Berube as well.
It doesn't even sound like the league is even concerned about it either.

It wasn't too long ago that bringing the stick up to the opponent's ribs was an automatic penalty, even if it didn't appear to impede his movement. One of many rules that have gone out the window. Also, I'd be an advocate for more offsetting penalties, especially dual roughing and the ever popular tripping / embellishment.

Let me call my buddy down the street who's an expert on Las Vegas NHL teams.

My best friend who is currently working at a casino in LV says that there are many people who are looking forward to a team there. There are many out of state workers who live there now and miss going to hockey games.

He's a huge Flyers fan, but he has gotten LV season tickets already.

Did the LV ticket drive actually take monetary deposits or was it just taking reservations?

I rather them just move to Portland or Seattle, more potential there than Vegas where there's way much better things to do than watch a hockey game there IMO.

I'm sick of Bettman trying to get exotic with relocation plans.

Vegas has money though. Comp tickets, even if fans don't show up, if the tickets are sold, team makes money.

Coyotes Prez says team has 0 intention on renegotiating the lease. This could get ugly.

I can't imagine that is a great mindset to take when building a franchise. I know some players would rather play in a lax environment where winning doesn't matter to fans, but a good chunk of players want to play for winning franchises with a fan base that cares.

Not that many players want to come play in ARZ and I can't imagine it would be any different than LV where people come and go. I am sure a ton of hockey fans would come to the arena especially if the tickets were comp'ed but they would all be wearing away jerseys.

I have my doubts about LV as well. I just think they would be more financial stable.

And the Yotes are rolling out new jerseys for the 124th time in team history. I'm thinking the new jersey sales will be brisk.

Corporate support in LV will be stable and they should get a nice boost from being only professional league in town (NBA only other option has shown no desire to put team in LV)

Seattle doesn't seem to want to get its act together and build a new stadium so until that changes its not viable for NHL. Key Arena is a dump for hockey

Based on their ability to comp tickets to gamblers? I just don't think LV would really be able to draw quality players to their team given A) I don't think they can establish an actual fan base and B) I don't know anyone who has been to LV that would want to live there year round.

Moving a team to Portland or Seattle would be much better for the NHL I believe. Way more likely to establish a fan base and probably a potential rivalry between San Jose or Vancouver.

The team doesn't make money if the fans don't show up. ESPECIALLY if they comp tickets.
