They better either lose the rest of their games or win the rest of their games. I know in reality they’re gonna go 7-0-4 & finish 16th

To be fair, we've been spoiled with high picks lately. 12th overal in 2019 and 9th overall in 2020. We're due for another middle of the pack pick. We've been too lucky.

-37. 57 would be a cap era record (held by Keith Yandle, -47, 2021-22)

You had me going for second there!

Honestly if he was -57 that should be grounds for disqualification from any award. I don't care how many points you score or how bad your team is, or how flawed the stat itself is, -57 is next level horrendous. And I think being that far into the - is actually worse the more you score.

Our highest pick in over a decade. Prime spot for picking one of the top dmen, players we desperately need.

I'm not saying having the 5th pick would be a bad thing, just that in any other year it'd be a top 2 pick and that would be better

Yes those as well. And I’m stunned. Shocked. Amazed that Merrill is a + player.
My hubris led me to believe he’d be a minus player without even looking

Outside of the 6 games (-8) he was in around New Years (1-7-1 team record) he's been solid in the +/- department. He's only been a - in 8 games (54 games played) this year. He's been a + in 15 games. It doesn't mean he's a good player, just lucky/good enough when he's on the ice.

Yeah, but if we have a top 2 pick we would take Celebrini or Demidov and just actually turn into the Edmonton Oilers. So really, all this winning at the end of the year is to protect us from ourselves :sarcasm:

I'm inclined to agree. Bedard has 37 even strength points this year, and is a -37. He's actually been a net-zero while not on the powerplay. That's certainly better than other guys on his team, but also not great.

According to Hockey Ref he's:
- net -10 in all situations (70gf/80ga)
- net -30 ES (43gf/70ga)
- net -26 5v5 (34gf/60ga)
- net +20 PP (27gf/7ga)
-net 0 PK (he's not on the PK)
I don't know where EN situations fit in for their stats.
