So Sabourin cost us a 5th.
Lovely.

Some posters still can't get over the Marleau trade. It's like they can't comprehend the difference between barely being able to pay a player for actually playing for us and paying someone to not play.
A 5th is not a mid round pick
You can’t.Should have just PTO-ed someone, dumb to give up any asset even if it's just a 5th
You are wrong again. At one point this year there were 6 healthy D in North America. Situations like that can happen. If you don’t have a couple contracts available it can screw you. But you obviously know more than anyone employed in the NHL, or who covers it, or is a broadcaster.tHe SeNs CoNtRaCt SiTuAtIoN iSn'T hUrTiNg ThEm
Here we go again with hfsens losing their **** over a late draft pick....
It's funny... it was exactly 1 year ago today that people were losing their **** over the 6th round pick we gave up for Nilsson.
The Dallas Stars gave up a 6th rounder for Alex Auld which became Mark Stone.
It doesn't happen often that those picks work out, but throwing them away like confetti doesn't help move the franchise forward. If this wasn't already a trend with Dorion a once off would probably be better accepted.
Maybe Dallas should have picked Mark Stone with their 5th round pick. The Dallas Stars gave up a 6th rounder for Alex Auld which became Mark Stone.

They only had 6 healthy D in NA under contract... and why was that? Because they only had 11 in total signed. And why was that? Think real hard, put the galactic brain to use.You are wrong again. Whatever, this started with you saying the contract number isn’t a problem. There is only 1 team with 49 contracts so it seems to me that most GMs believe having more than 48 is a problem. They only had 6 healthy D in NA under contract... and why was that? Dorion left them vulnerable and unable to withstand only a few injuries.
The trade itself is fine but there should have been a couple of Mike Riellys kicking around in Belleville when needed and signed in the offseason. If they hadn't wasted contract spots on guys like Beaudin, Sabourin and Swartz they could have just given 2 way deals to Corrado and Percy and be done with it.
When Ebert was traded, Wolanin was already out long term. That left us with 10 guys to use, which is just not enough in a 82 game schedule and leaves Belleville in terrible shape when he have even a couple of injuries.
Don't love that he has another year left on his contract. Would have preferred an expiring deal.
We damn well better have more picks than we started with after dealing Dzingel, Stone, Hoffman, Duchene and Karlsson...Except we're not throwing them like confetti. We still have more picks than we started with in 2020, with more surely to come at the deadline.
That's exactly what I'm saying. I was making fun of people who thought the Sens being up against the contract limit didn't matter. It was clearly limiting their options on player movementsWhatever, this started with you saying the contract number isn’t a problem.
