Fatigue? From the grueling two games of preseason hockey so far? Dude is setting an exceptional example for the kids. True leader, there. Imagine how much worse the team would've been without him sitting on the bench, grousing about how tired he is.

Lol at the rhetoric... And if he had a broken hand from something non hockey related? Stupid take all around on your part.

Then why say fatigue instead of "lower body injury" or whatever the usual phrases are?

I don't recall the last time I heard "fatigue" as the reason for a player sitting out.

It’s not good for our team if Green can’t play, but it does open the door for Hronek + Cholo/Sulak to make the team and establish themselves.

He's seeing a specialist and they're speculating (hoping?) it may be a virus. It's not like he's just worn out from skating and needs a rest. Best to get this sorted out at the start of the season rather than push through it and potentially miss more time.

He's probably ill and they are saying fatigue because they don't have a diagnosis yet. Not really that hard to figure out, especially since that explanation is given in the OP.

You missed the point of what I was saying. You can experience fatigue for other factors that have nothing to do with exercise or voluntary physical activity. I think I read once that this is a huge problem in Australia...
Whereas his insinuation was that it had something to do with him being lazy or out of shape...

I don't think it's relevant when they sort it out.

If it's a virus, fine, but as long as they're classifying it as "fatigue", I'm going to assume it's "fatigue". It's not like the phantom "$vague_location body injury" report.

He had a back injury and hasn't been able to train normally.

Whatever, spot open for a kid! :thumbu:

I wasn't saying anything real bad, but starting out fatigued generally doesn't presage good things for a season. Even if it's just a virus or something. He's missing out on the good build up to mid-season form time with it.

It's not something that Green did wrong or anything, but it's just generally not a good thing to be fatigued BEFORE you start something that is well known as a grind.

“Now we have five D, and we are probably going to start with seven,” Holland said. “Now, how long is Mike Green out? Certainly it appears he is going to be out for a little period of time. So probably we are going to start with two of these defense prospects - either Sulak or Hicketts or Cholowski or Hronek.”

Here it begins.

Obviously "fatigue" is being used as a term of art here, not the colloquial way we say someone is fatigued. The fact that he's already gotten bloodwork and is seeing a specialist bears that out.

I am curious though, since I haven't followed the Wings much this off-season - what is our cap situation like right now? Is it possible that having Green on IR to start the season is a benefit to our LTIR-related wiggle room?

He didn't even play in the first two preseason games. This sounds like some sort of medical issue, stop acting like this makes Green weak or something. Are you in 4th grade?

Yes, I'm really encouraged to have a discussion with someone who starts off with a personal attack. Good luck with that tactic.
