Detroit get some help and the habs shed some salary
This deal would never happen as neither teams are making the playoffs this year, No way would Green waive for a Montreal team that is playing as bad as Detroit is. We could've easily have traded for Petry when Edmonton dealt him and our scouts weren't enthused by him so no dice. Petry wouldn't help us all that much any ways.Detroit get some help and the habs shed some salary
This picks or prospects only.Detroit isn't trading Green for a 30 year old D. Futures only.
I could definitely see Larkin getting 8 x $6.5 million and Mantha around 6 x $5.5 million give or take.None of those players deserve big contracts yet. Mantha and Larkin will get the biggest ones, but even then they shouldn't be getting more than $6m AAV and no more than 6 years. Arguably they could have more, but it's a risk.
stop making habs trade proposals. pleaseDetroit get some help and the habs shed some salary
did you look at who needs to shed salary before posting this???
they have Athanasiou, Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi & Frk to re-sign as RFA + ad a spare GL to that with "say" 9M cap to deal with
Holy crap this is bad for Detroit.
1) Doesn't fit Detroit's needs, we downgrade on the blueline.
2) We get no futures for our most valuable piece that is moving on.
3) Petry is really nothing special, I honestly view him as a 5-6 d, which we have many of.
And why exactly do the Habs need to shed salary? Do we need more than the 9M+ cap space that we already have before the seasons ends? Is there a complimentary 1st round draft pick if we reach a certain amount of free cap space before the season ends?!
All that aside- You would need 2 Mike Greens to get 1 Petry. Im not even a fan of Petry but Green is a tire fire now.
Thanks for posting the thoughts Wings fans have at acquiring Petry!
