You don't fire a coach based on a 1 game sample, or even a 7 game sample. Not to mention a 7 game sample where you make a very even series against a team that everyone seems to universally agree is better than you.

How about for not winning a playoff series in 6 years or finishing higher than 3rd in the division since 2011? This is hardly a one game issue.

His accomplishments? 1) Got carried by one of the best playoff goaltending performances ever. 2) Won one stanley cup with an absolutely loaded Detroit team. 3) Won a gold medal on home ice with a loaded team Canada. Thats a fine position to take. I wouldn't necessarily be upset if they replaced him with someone they thought could utilize the roster better. However, this series for the Bruins should not be the #1 reason for any logical move. It was a close series and they lost to a better team. Babcock didn't get exposed or whatever the hot take is.

I think he's becoming/has become outdated as a coach. I really question his minutes distribution there in game 7 and the whole series. He's not as outdated as say Hitchcock but i don't think he's one of the top coaches in the league anymore.

It's a little funny because when he signed with Toronto he was universally considered the best coach in the entire NHL. He was Team Canada Head Coach in 2010 and 2014 over Sutter, Quenville. It's a little funny how the sentiment has changed.

Also Trotz was a choker who couldn't pass round 2 in 18 seasons and now he's 2nd best coach currently in NHL according to recent HF poll

The defense wasn't the difference maker in the series, the lack of effective special teams (PK and PP) were. Did you watch any of the games?
